THE CORAL Release New Electrifying Psych Pop Track ‘CHASING THE TAIL OF A DREAM’…

After their excellent ‘lost’ album Scottish psych pop gang THE CORAL will be
really back with new, eight, album ‘Distance Inbetween‘ on March 4. The
record is dedicated to Alan Wills. The Coral’s early mentor and Deltasonic
label boss who died in 2014.

Magnificent artwork (as always)…

The band just shared a brand new slice of the forthcoming LP. A swirling
vintage-Coral-psych-o-dream-trip titled CHASING THE TAIL OF A DREAM’ .

THE CHARLATANS remixed by PETER, BJORN and JOHN – Free Download…

Swedish indie-pop rockers Peter Björn & John decided to remix The Charlatans track ‘Keep Enough’ from their 2015 album ‘Modern Nature‘ after the trio watched the West Midlands band playing in Stockholm a few months ago…

Young Swedish Folks…

Frontman Tim Burgess of The Charlatans: “It turns out we’re fans of each other’s bands. We kept in touch and I asked if they would like to remix one of our songs. We loved what they did with the track and we thought, let’s give it away as a Christmas present!”

TrackOFday-800 - kopie

Don’t despair, you’re there
From beginning to middle to end
Don’t despair, you’re there
Through my wasted days
You’re there through my wasted nights

Oh despair, you’ve always been there
You were there through my wasted years
Through all my lonely fears, no tears
Run through my fingers, tears
They’re stinging my eyes, no tears
If it’s all in my head there’s nothing to fear
Nothing to fear inside

Through the darkness and the light
Some sun has got to rise

My sun is your sun
Your sun is our sun

Oh despair, you were there through my wasted days
You’re there through my wasted nights
You’re there through my wasted years
You’re there through my wasted life

You’ve always been there
You were there through my wasted years
Through all of my lonely fears
Run through my fingers, tears
They’re stinging my eyes, no tears
We’re all on the edge, there’s nothing to fear
Nothing to fear inside

Through the darkness and the light
Some sun has got to rise

My sun is your sun
Your sun is our sun

THE POP GROUP Is Beyond Good And Evil – Live Ecstasy in Belgium…

2015 was a fantastic year for Bristol punk funk legends THE POP GROUP. They scored a highly praised comeback album with ‘Citizen Zombie’. Their first LP in more than three decades. A smoking body of work that mixed with their late seventies killer classics – such as ‘She Is Beyond Good And Evil‘ and ‘We Are All Prostitutes’ – will get your lazy New Year Eve’s guests on their feet and turn them into unstoppable 24 hour-party-people.

But the spectacular resurrection of reared frontman Mark Stewart & his explosive
gang wouldn’t be complete without their electrifying live shows. Up there on the stage
The Pop Group becomes a nasty groovin’ machine. I saw them performing last month at the excellent indoors Sonic City Festival in Kortrijk, Belgium (curated by the striking Canadian post punk noisemakers Viet Cong). Overmastering. Loud. Intoxicating. Sonic dope for body and soul. FUNKY AS HELL. The Bristolian Pop Zombies smashed all competition that day and infected ineffaceably the whole audience, young and old(er). One of the best gigs (and I danced at many in 2015) I experienced all year. Welcome back, imperishable prostitutes…

THE POGUES – The Perfect Xmas Band – Happy B. to Shane McGowan…

THE POGUES are – and not only because of their classic ‘A Fairytale Of New York’ – for me the perfect Christmas band. Their melancholic Irish spirit has a warm, romantic and nostalgic feel. Many of their ballads radiate that feel in a sweet, magical way. My idea of a great Santa Claus soundtrack. Here’s one of those pearls performed live on British TV in 1987.

I know, no Xmas without this one (rest in peace, Kirsty MacColl)…

And let’s not forget… frontman/songwriter/hard drinker Shane McGowan is
a Xmas punk kid born on 25 December 1957. Happy birthday !…
