SAVAGES – Adoring Life with Full Energy in Brussels…

SAVAGES – Botanique, Brussels – 2 March 2016

All female British power rockers SAVAGES led by Frechwoman and natural-born star JEHNNY BETH (real name: Camille Berthomier) are on their way to the top. Their 2nd
album ADORE LIFE is overall victorious – outspoken and committed, gloriously noisy, intriguingly dark and forcefully shaped – and the band translate it (interwoven with
the best cuts of their debut longplayer SILENCE YOURSELF) to the stage with a mighty, overpowering endeavour. Frantic, magnetic, simply irresistible. The burning rhythm section – Ayse Hassan (bass) & Fay Milton (drums) – produced metallic drones to blow
off the roof while ice-cold looking guitarist Gemma Thompson amplified the rush with
fully charged, fuzzy strokes. But all eyes in the venue are incessantly fixed on BETH

Her muscular voice filled the whole venue all night long and her seducing moves & piercing glances caused an endless stream of adrenalin with the spectators. She is
sensual in an unlikely cool way. She is strongly involved and immensely passionate.
She is the new savage goddess of noise rock and walked over the crowd to prove it.
She adores life with her whole being. Spectacular and captivating…

The show was one long, uninterrupted highlight (the best concert I witnessed this year, so far) with the unavoidable FUCKERS anthem as the final wall-of-sound outburst. Support act and great friends of Savages, Japanese noisemakers BO NINGEN joined them to add some extra decibels. Grand finale !…
