PRIMAL SCREAM – ‘Riot City Blues’ Album is 10…

PrimalBlues

RIOT CITY BLUES is the eighth studio album by British experimental sound gang PRIMAL SCREAM, released on 5 June 2006, ten years ago. No electronics and krautrock nor acid house excursions this time, but rousing trad-rock and nasty garage-blue fireworks. Like The Rolling Stones jamming with The Faces in a smoky bar somewhere in downtown New Orleans, Louisiana in the early seventies. An orgy of vicious riffs, cutting hooks and dirty grooves. Rock & roll ecstasy and blues heat. Big fun. Hot stuff for booze fueled parties! Here are my two favorite highlights….

The blues rock bomb ‘Country Girl’ with that steamy mandolin solo

The heartbreaking tristesse of ‘Sometimes I Feel So Lonely’…

You can be redeemed boys, you can be redeemed
Life is but a dream boy, you can be redeemed
Nothing’s as it seems, you can be redeemed

Sometimes I feel so lonely, sometimes I feel so lonely
Sometimes I feel so lonely, sometimes I feel so lonely

Everything’s permitted, nothing’s really true
Live outside the law boys doing what to do
Nothing’s at it seems, you can be redeemed

Sometimes I feel so lonely, sometimes I feel so lonely
Sometimes I feel so lonely, sometimes I feel so lonely

You can be redeemed boys, you can be redeemed
Life is but a dream boy, you can be redeemed
Nothing’s as it seems, you can be redeemed

Sometimes I feel so lonely, sometimes I feel so lonely
Sometimes I feel so lonely, sometimes I feel so lonely
