Rewinsthefilm

Rewind the film again
I’d love to see my joy, my friends
Rewind the film again
So I can fall asleep content

Rewind the film once more
Turn back the pages of my post
Rewind the film once more
I want the world to see it all

I want to feel small
Lying in my mother’s arms
Playing my old records
Hoping that they never stop

There’s too much heartbreak
In the nothing of the now
I want to see it all
Never want to let it go

Rewind the film once more
Turn back the pages of my post
Rewind the film once more
I want the world to see it all

Let me hide under the sheets
And celebrate the boredom
Let me hide under the sheets
With my brave old one

Rewind the film again
I’d love to see my joy, my friends
Rewind the film again
So I can fall asleep content

Rewind the film once more
Turn back the pages of my post
Rewind the film once more
I want the world to see it all

I want to feel small
Holding on my father’s hands
Playing all the records
Praying that they’ll never stop

There is too much heartbreak
In the nothing of the now
I want to see it all
Never going to let you down

Rewind the film once more
Turn back the pages of my post
Rewind the film once more
I want the world to see it all

I want the world to see all the love
And security, my childhood dreams
But now I am just broken flesh
And I am waiting for the night to come

So rewind the film again
I’d love to see my joy, my friends
Yes, rewind the film again
So I can fall asleep content

OASIS – Being There Then 19 Years Ago…

Back
BE HERE NOW by OASIS – third LP released 21 August 1997

Oasis

On the first day of release BE HERE NOW sold over 350.000 units becoming the fastest-selling album in British chart history. Yet, the band didn’t include a single track from that LP on their double-disc 2006 best-of-album Stop The Clocks. That says enough about a bloody lousy record that was made by fresh millionaires living in the fast lane on too many drugs. Like Noel Gallagher, The Chief, once said: “I still tell people that the ‘Be Here Now’ album is the best advertisement against taking cocaine. It goes on too long, it’s smothered by its self of self-importance – the same as coke users are.

AugUst21

Greedy money-making business sharks don’t care about poor quality at the end of the day. So the LP will be re-released on 7 October 2016. A 3-disc deluxe edition with remastered versions of all songs and seven b-sides from the three UK singles. Bonus content includes demos, the Mustique sessions, live recordings and a 2016 remix of the – to my ears – one and only truly great track “D’You Know What I Mean?” I’m an Oasis fan from day one but I’m not interested in all this ‘we want your money’ reissue crap. Do you know what I mean?…

The Weird Magic of ‘Love Will Tear Us Apart’ by JOY DIVISION…

TrackDay1

Weird, really weird. My father (84) was battling cancer for eight months now and LOVE WILL TEAR US APART by JOY DIVISION was spinning several times in my troubled head during that difficult period as the song I would dedicate to him if he ever would lose his proud struggle against that awful disease. Last Thursday morning I got the bad news. I jumped into my car and rushed towards the hospital. While driving, only a few minutes later, Love Will Tear Us Apart was played on the radio. It never sounded so intense, so real. And next Tuesday I will see original Joy Division and New Order bass player PETER HOOK and his band THE LIGHT performing at a festival in Belgium. He also plays this timeless rough diamond. Weird magic. Forever now.

For you, dad. You really deserve a long rest, big bear.
We will take care of mom now…

When routine bites hard
And ambitions are low
And resentment rides high
But emotions won’t grow
And we’re changing our ways, taking different roads

Then love, love will tear us apart again
Love, love will tear us apart again

Why is the bedroom so cold?
You’ve turned away on your side
Is my timing that flawed?
Our respect runs so dry
Yet there’s still this appeal
That we’ve kept through our lives

But love, love will tear us apart again
Love, love will tear us apart again

You cry out in your sleep
All my failings exposed
And there’s a taste in my mouth
As desperation takes hold
Just that something so good just can’t function no more

But love, love will tear us apart again
Love, love will tear us apart again
Love, love will tear us apart again
Love, love will tear us apart again

SEBADOH – Single ‘Ocean’ 20 Years Ago…

7Sevenmix

‘Ocean’ by SEBADOH

Seabdoha

Slacker rock band SEBADOH was formed by Eric Gaffney and the eccentric LOU BARLOW, then bass player with DINOSAUR JR. in Northampton, Massachusetts in 1988. They split up and restarted a few times while making eight studio albums along the way. Their sixth LP titled HARMACY is their most accessible and widely praised longplayer. It was released twenty years ago, on 20 August 1996 with single OCEAN having many ingredients for being a hit: infectious tune, poppy feel, catchy with a sing along potency and around the three minute mark. Bingo, big score!…

So you think you’re in the middle of the ocean
Stranded on an island of your own
Or stuck in the top of a mountain
Either way you’re gonna say you’re all alone
And I hesitate to say that you’re a liar
I never tell the truth myself
But I tried to chase you down and I got tired
So I’m leaving you to you or someone else
‘Cause you never want to hook up in the middle
And I’d meet you there to talk if you would show
But you answer every question with a riddle
And refuse to even choose to let me go
It used to be I’d tell you all my secrets
Giving you the credit you deserve
I guess you didn’t care to lose or keep it
And we never quite connected from the first
And I wish I had a way to make it better
To rearrange the world and make you smile
But it’s dumb to even think I had that power
And we haven’t been that close in a while
And I don’t even want to try to name it
Explain it for the one who couldn’t care
‘Cause all that matters is the way you choose to frame it
And I hesitate to say that you’re a liar
I never tell the truth myself
But I tried to chase you down and I got tired
So I’m leaving you to you or someone else
‘Cause you never want to hook up in the middle
And I’d meet you there to talk if you would show
But you answer every question with a riddle
And refuse to even choose to let me go

At The End Of The Tunnel… THE CRYSTAL FURS

Black - kopie - kopie - kopie

From Forth Worth, Texas, here are… THE CRYSTAL FURS

CrystalFurs

New name. New single. TUNNEL VISION is a catchy jingle jangle earworm amplified with splattering guitar electricity and a luscious 60s organ to warm it all up and seduce you without asking permission. Yes, this little pearl will grow on you slowly but surely…

.
Been losing myself in my own head
And I don’t know what to do
Trying to blame the stars above
But I know it’s all on you

I go out late and stay away
’cause I can’t seem to clear my thoughts
You’re not even here to see my face
And see what you have wrought

Ooh, I got tunnel vision
Ooh, I got tunnel vision

Stagger in late and can’t think straight
And it’s wrecking everything
Nothing makes sense and nothing’s clear
Why can’t you take the blame?

Ooh, I got tunnel vision
Ooh, I got tunnel vision

Losing myself in my own head
And I don’t know what to do
Trying to blame the stars above
But I know it’s all on you
Yeah I know it’s all on you
Honey, it’s all on you

Ooh, I got tunnel vision
Ooh, I got tunnel vision
Ooh, I got tunnel vision
Ooh, I got…tunnel vision

Here the equally wonderful B-side Miss Hughes
