‘No Love Lost’ by THE DISTILLERS
Original by Joy Division

NO LOVE LOST was one of the 4 tracks of Manchester legends JOY DIVISION‘s debut EP, titled An Ideal For Living (released 3 June 1978) with the controversial Hitler Youth image on the front sleeve. To my ears the best song on the EP. Tremendous beat, dark groove, mind-boggling flow and raw Ian Curtis vocals. Many artists covered it such as The Horrors, LCD Soundsystem, Peter Hook and The Light (of course). But nobody did it better – so far, in my view – than THE DISTILLERS fronted by alluring punk diva BRODY DALLE (QUOTSA’s Josh Homme‘s missus). Their live rendition at UK’s Reading Festival in (2004) is rough, loud, turbulent and darkly sensual. A deafening knockout! Turn it up! Time to go in trance…
