Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde are still creeping up

Anniversary Albums -Passenger IGGY POP With Tons Of ‘LUST FOR LIFE – Forty Years Ago Today…

Going back in sonic history…

Artist: IGGY POP

Released: 29 August 1977 – 40 years ago

Rolling Stone said: “as rock’s truest bad boy, Iggy led the Stooges with a vision of frustrated, depressed and angry young adult life that will probably never be seen (or dared) again. That
he has come back from the edge relatively intact is like almost a miracle. With David Bowie as producer and guide, he is actually realizing a career for the first time. Like Lou Reed, Iggy is most likely headed on a course just left of center, bizarre enough to attract those inclined toward something different but safe enough not to scare them away.”

Turn Up The Volume!: says: This is Pop’s masterpiece to my ears, created with some big help from his friend, the late, great Bowie and seeing Iggy playing the LP almost in full in 1977 in London (I went as a teenager with a fellow music junkie mate all the way to the historical Rainbow Theatre in England‘s capital to see that snake moving madman for the very first time. A truly unforgettable experience. I still have the ticket, see below) was a.w.e.s.o.m.e

BLUR – First Number One Single In UK On 26 August 1995 – Here’s ‘COUNTRY HOUSE’…

Golden oldies to soundtrack the summer of 2017…

Band: BLUR

Album: ‘The Great Escape’

Number One : the single hit the top spot of
the UK charts on 26 August 1995 – 22 years ago today

Note: the track received massive media attention when Blur‘s label Food Records moved the original release date to the same one as Oasis’s ‘Roll With It’ single. The British media had already reported an intense rivalry between the two bands and this clash of releases was seen as a competition for the number one spot, called the ‘Battle of Britpop‘. Blur won the fight, peaking at No. 1 and Oasis at No. 2…

Greatest and fattest joint I ever seen: watch this clip…

I turned my back on Paris
Because I heard their dogs do bite
I didn’t mind the taste of their crepes
Oh they were alright!!!

What’s that barking at night
Keeping me up
Scowl at the light
I said, what’s that hair in my ears, foam in my mouth
I feel like a lousey werewolf!!!

Ladies, the rabies are back
Ladies, the rabies are back
Ladies, the rabies are back
The rabies are back for good

You don’t need to cross the channel
For the taste of cheap wine
Just bob along to Aldi or Lidl
Any old time
But what’s that creeping about
Down on all fours, blood in its mouth
I said ‘hop back’, showing its paws
It looks like a massive werewolffff

Ladies, the rabies are back
I said, ladies, the rabies are back
I said ladies, you know the rabies are back
The rabies are back for good

THE KELLEY DEAL 6000 Going BOOM! BOOM! BOOM! … Twenty Years Ago

Going back in sonic history…

Artist: THE KELLEY DEAL 6000 (yes, Kelley has a twin sister, but that
is not important right now right here, ladies and gents)

Released: 26 August 1997 – 20 years ago

Why I love B!B!B!: music for heart and soul sounding like it was recorded in one long
weekend take. No special effects, no cheap tricks, no arty farty nonsense. Magical at
times and jangling quietLoudquiet now and then. Enchanting record for the twilight
hours filled when romantic melancholia moments and mixed emotions take over…

Three Top Tracks: Brillo Hunt / Where Did The Home Team Go / When He Calls Me Kitten

* ‘BRILLO HUNT’ highly catchy, hooky, sparkling and Boom! Boom! Boom!

* ‘WHERE DID THE HOME TEAM GO’sweet, moody lullaby

* ‘WHEN HE CALLS ME KITTEN’ this is MAGIC… (also on soundtrack of 2002 movie May)

I think THE BREEDERS should back up Kelley to play, at least three tracks of this birthday album when they tour Europe this fall. Only for two shows, the ones I will attend of course: Amsterdam 22 October and Brussels 23 October. Do we have a deal, ladies?

Hear/Watch THE DARTS – Beware These Cool Black Cats Will ‘MEOW’ You In a Trance…

25 August 2017

Who: an all-grrrrl garage rock gang, formed in 2016, featuring NICOLE LAURENNE (The Love Me Nots, Motobunny, Zero Zero), RIKKI STYXX (The Two Tens, The Dollyrots, Thee Outta Sites), CHRISTINA NUNEZ ( The Love Me Nots, Casual Encounters, The Madcaps), and MICHELLE BALDERRAMA (Brainspoon)…
Turn Up The Volume: Weow! This is the The Cramps reincarnated! But they look sexier, they sound sultrier and they move nastier than ever before. ‘The Cat’s Meow’ is an ongoing voluptuous garage groove, spiced with some sensual organ and tempting vocals. Sticky, seductive and, yes, black is the color. Listen & watch with caution, they have seven lives…

Go Completely Frantic With FIZZY BLOOD – Here’s New Formidable Whack… ‘ADHD’

Sonic havoc that thrills us in a way we want to scream out loud…

Here are…

Band: FIZZY BLOOD (Leeds, UK)

Track: ADHD

Frontman Benki Inkley: “It’s a song of contrasts. The lightheartedness of the music and the seriousness of lyrics don’t really match up which gives it that little extra edge. It’s like a prescription written on a sandwich board…”

Turn Up The Volume: Indeed, ADHD is not really fun (I know what I’m talking about) but
it inspired this loudmouth 5-piece engine to unleash their demons once again. Just try to imagine Canadian turbo Metz jamming with Liverpool legends The La’s. Yes, an inflammable mix of charged frenzy and melodic, jingle jangle catchiness extra fueled with a S-C-R-E-A-M along chorus. You can not and you will not resist this outburst of hyperactivity. Trust me, Fizzy Blood is your new favourite energy generator. Now, press the button and release the manic Leeds preachers here…
