‘I Promise’ by RADIOHEAD

For twenty tears I PROMISE was one of the 3 previously unreleased tracks from the OK Computer sessions that appeared on the reissue edition called OKNOTOK to celebrate the 20th birthday of RADIOHEAD‘s masterpiece LP. It’s a breathtaking pearl, a gripping ballad, a melancholic gem with softly marching drums, tenderly acoustic guitar, emotionally orchestral arrangements, an intensely captivating melody and Thom Yorke‘s fragile and impassioned voice. A gloomy reverie about regret, hope, sorrow and profound love. The accompanying clip is harrowing too . I heard it for the first time some days after the awful terror tragedy in Manchester and I couldn’t stop my tears. When will humankind and its political leaders understand that we only can survive with tolerance, with equality, solidarity, oneness and peace. So far, only promises…

I won’t run away no more, I promise
Even when I get bored, I promise
Even when you lock me out, I promise
I say my prayers every night, I promise

I don’t wish that I’m strict, I promise
The tantrums and the chilling chats, I promise
Even when the ship is wrecked, I promise
Tie me to the rotten deck, I promise

I won’t run away no more, I promise
Even when I get bored, I promise
Even when the ship is wrecked, I promise
Tie me to the rotten deck, I promise

I won’t fool around no more, I promise
Even when I get bored, I promise
Even when you lock me out, I promise
I say my prayers every night, I promise
I won’t fool around no more, I promise

I won’t run away no more, I promise
