Note: Written by Jagger/Richards it was Keef’s ace riff, intended to be replaced by horns, that made this timeless classic immediately recognizable. Add the lyrics referring to sex, frustration and commercialism and you have the recipe for a global hit. In the US the song was initially played only on pirate radios, because of the  sexually suggestive content.
Success: No 1 (their fourth) in the UK on 9 September 1965, 54 years ago today…
