No noise on Sundays to wake up to
12 March 2023
The Velvet Underground released their self-titled debut LP (yep, the one
with the banana on the cover) 56 years ago today. on 12 March 1967.
What better way is there to wake up on a Sunday morning with, eh, opening track
SUNDAY MORNING, with more than 108 million Spotify streams, far out the most
popular track of the album.
Lou Reed and John Cale co-wrote it with Nico‘s voice in mind. In the end, it was Reed
who sang it, with backing vocals by Nico. This pure classic gem was actually about paranoia.
“Watch out, the world’s behind you, there’s always someone watching you”
Timeless.
