After last year’s rowdy debut EP ‘Skeletons ‘ featuring Under The Moon, one of Turn
Up The Volume’s
knockout crackers of 2018 Danish rocker REBBECA LOU and her band return with the first single of their upcoming longplayer. NOT 4 U is a vehement banger propelled by a merciless drum/bass thunder and infused with nasty guitars going mad around the 2-minute mark. On top of all the stormy havoc comes Lou‘s threatening
voice, cutting like a knife and going fast forward towards a smashing finale. Big bang!

PICK OF THE DAY – Superb Danish Vox REBECCA LOU Scores With Monumental New Single ‘UNDER THE MOON’…

Daily fuel to load your sonic batteries…

Who: “Despite having only started writing music in 2015, Rebecca Lou offers a refreshing, in your face, dose of self-confidence that is needed now more than ever. Joining forces with Paw Skovbye (bass), Joachim Holmgaard (guitars) and August Ottsen (drums), she has quickly built a formidable reputation across Denmark for her frenzied live shows, and has supported Danish rockers ‘Velvet Volume’ on their tour last year.”

Score: Wow! This is truly one of the most overwhelming voices I heard in recent times. Vigorous, dynamic and highly brisk. Assisted by a high-voltage band pumping up the decibels, Rebecca Lou pushes this massive pop banger up their into the sky. ‘Under The Moon’ is a dazzling firecracker that will make your sonic adrenalin stream uncontrollably. Double wow! Trust me, you’ll have this glowing on repeat all day long. Press the button right here, turn it op and feel the burning power…

Danish Trio JOURS Amazes With Zestful Debut Single ‘TRICK’…

Daily fuel to load your sonic batteries…

6 April 2019

Sorry Mister William Shakespeare but there’s nothing rotten in the state of Denmark. On the contrary, the music coming out of that north European country lately is thrilling, elevating, compelling and totally riveting. Turn Up The Volume already featured some of those up and coming Danish artists such as great vox Rebecca Lou, electro pop brothers Alcabean and singer-songwriter M. Rexen.

Interesting detail is that they all are on the same indie label, called We Are Suburban,
the Rough Trade of Denmark. And here’s their next fresh act named jours. An arousing
trio that just released their debut single TRICK. A flamboyant piece of amplified guitar pop rapture. For some reason the melodic vivacity song reminds me of Liverpool‘s 80s one-time phenomenon The La’s but rockier and heavier. Anyway it’s a top debut. Check it out here…

Sensitive moments for the laziest day of the week…

Last year Sheffield‘s outsiders collective THE MOONLANDINGZ led by Fat White Family frontman Lias Kaci Saoudi released their buzzing electro pop rock debut LP Interplanetary Class Classics. One of the most striking tracks on the record is the Nick Cave-like murder ballad THE STRANGLE OF ANNA featuring the wonderful Rebecca Lucy Taylor. Sit back, relax, pretend you’re Lou Reed, have yourself an egg and some lipstick to play with…

I made you listen to Sunday morning
You spread it out across the parquet flooring
Let it rain
Let it rain
Let it rain till it’s pouring
Till the sun shines brown

I’m sick of sucking on
The smoke of the past
But you know my hands are ties
And stuck fast

The Strangle of Anna’s got me unwell
The Strangle of Anna’s got me unwell
The Strangle of Anna’s c’est la vie ma belle

You think you’re Lou Reed but you’re never trending
Hashtag my arsehole to your cliched ending
It’s all the same, all the same
It’s all the same that you’re sending
Can’t put a dead dog down

No longer smoking on
The smoke of the past
Now my hands are untied
At last

24 March 2017

THE MOONLANDINGZ, the rattling collective including Sheffield’s electronic weirdos The Eccentronic Research Council and Fat White Family‘s genial outlaws – far out frontman Lias Saoudi aka Johnny Rocket and mental guitarist Saul Adamczewski – have their debut album INTERPLANETARY CLASS CLASSICS out today. Co-produced by Sean Lennon at his New York studio it features Ross Orton (drums), Mairead O’Connor (bass), as well as guest appearances from Randy Jones (the Cowboy from, yes, The Village People), Rebecca Taylor from Slow Club, The Human League‘s frontman Phil Oakey and, last but not least, Yoko
, who howls freakishly on the LP’s brilliant closer ‘This Cities Undone’. A truly special record to soundtrack the apocalyptic future ahead of us while dancing madly and out
of our minds. The most intriguing and adventurous LP so far this year. On repeat…

“It’s an inspired mish-mash of Glitter Band tribal drumming, a howling wolf, tuneless saxophone squawking, heavy breathing and at least one narrative about castration; a sort of Cramps-meet-B-52s Hammer horror-rock monster…”

“This record refuses to wear only one mask – futurist without revivalism, acerbic but with swagger – and throws off with gusto any accusations of the term side-project…”

“Right from the lolloping big-beat Goth motorik of ‘Vessels’, there’s a confident, low-life muscularity to the album. And it all comes to a glorious head in the rolling maelstrom of ‘This Cities Undone”, with octogenarian Yoko wailing her berserk best over the massed title chant…”

Their debut packs a far mightier punch than the output of almost any other contemporary group with whom they may share certain influences..”

Fresh electrifying impulses for your ears…

THE MOONLANDINGZ are the semi-fictional psych-pop group put together by Sheffield’s practical electronics wizards and analogue taxidermists, called The Eccentronic Research Council (Adrian Flanagan and Dean Honer) and Fat White Family‘s outlaws Lias Saoudi and Saul Adamczewski. Their debut album ‘Interplanetary Class Classics’ will be released on March 24th through Chimera Music. After sharing psych disco stomper Black Hanz some months ago here’s another, surprisingly melancholic, new track titled THE STRANGLE OF ANNA featuring Rebecca Taylor from Slow Club in a duet with Johnny Rocket (Lias).

“A warm and tender pop duet. The song is all set to warm the nation’s hearts during this cold and politically deranged winter of discontent and will almost definitely set those in chains free… it’s a record about liberation, finding a voice and standing up” says a press message.

Take your lover close to your chest. Start the music, dance softly and hope both for the best, for a future without idiotic & dangerous world leaders. Love each other genuinely before it’s too late. Here’s the perfect song to get you going. Sounds a bit like Lou Reed singing with Hope Sandoval on a Sunday Morning
