About

TURN UP THE VOLUME  is a Belgium-based dope blog for music junkies and gig addicts  – . No special effects, no pedantic journalistic analyses. Just writing from the heart, the soul and the ears about indie hullabaloo, alternative havoc, classic crackers rock,  euphoric pop and all noise that makes our hair raise. Hell yeah!

I never thought it would come to this when I started TURN UP THE VOLUME BLOG
back in 2015, to kill some time now and then, about music, the second most important thing in my life after my family.

Over the years more and more daily followers/visitors, artists, PR agencies and record labels found their way to TURN UP THE VOLUME which motivated me to write more and more and, eventually, spending all of my free time on the blog. It helps of course when you’re a music junkie and gig addict yourself and the fact that I have professional publishing experience.

The fact that in 2022 TUTV scored more views again then in all the years before with 110.459 views is super-duper-tastic! THANK YOU ALL! That’s all I need to keep on
bloggin’ and rockin’ in the free world.

    Hello, we Love your Blog!
We’re a four-piece psychedelic garage rock band from Vancouver, Canada. We’ll be releasing our EP, Maladies, on cassette in April on WIENER Records (Subsidiary of BURGER Records). We’d love it if you’d have a quick listen:

Just had a first listen. The EP is top. Smashing stuff. But I have confused & mixed emotions about your black & white ‘I.S.’ logo. Makes me think (not me alone, I guess) of terrorist organisation Islam State. Are you not afraid for misinterpretation?

    Hi JL,
Thanks for the props. Our logo was a riff off of the design from San Francisco’s Electronic Frontier Foundation’s “Stop Watching Us” campaign logo (https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/stop-watching-us-a-rally-against-nsa-surveillance-on-october-26th–2#/). Ours was an ironic statement as we are called “The Intelligence Service” and as a Psych-Garage rock band we are quite clearly opposed to any forms of surveillance, violence, or suppression (by state or individuals). We believe in freedom and expressivity and peace for all. We did not intend for any association with the Islamic State. We mourn for the recent tragedies your fellow countrymen have suffered and have our most sincere sympathy and condolences. We’ve updated our logo and have changed the image for our upcoming EP release on Wiener. Thanks again.

I was definitely aware that there was no association whatsoever with Islamic Stare. On the other hand I think having changed your logo now will avoid misinterpretation by whoever in the future. That said, we’re here to rock and I’ll be back soon with views on the EP. Best regards. Jean-Luc

    Hi Jean-Luc,

Huge thanks for featuring our live video release ‘In Limbo’ as Track of the Night on your blog! I thought you might be interested in the full EP release, which is out next Monday 9th May.

The pre-order on Bandcamp is currently available – https://echotrails.bandcamp.com/album/in-limbo-ep-pre-order
Let me know if you are interested in reviewing the whole EP and I can send a private link over, alternatively the link will be public next Monday.

I gather that you are Belgium based – but if you happen to be in the UK this week, we are doing some gigs in support of the release – you are very welcome!

    Many thanks,
    Jules, eT
