NOEL GALLAGHER Covers JOY DIVISION

4 June 2023

(BBC)

NOEL GALLAGHER was the new guest to perform with the BBC Concert Orchestra as part of their Radio 2 Piano Room sessions. Among new material he played a cover of Joy Division classic Love Will Tear Us Apart.

Why that one?

NG: “You can’t get out the BBC without doing a cover. When they asked me to do this I was like ‘I’m afraid I’m all Bob Dylan-ed out… I don’t know what to do. I would play this song, this version of it, at home down the years. When they asked me to do it, I was like ‘How can I get away with that?’ Because it’s such an iconic [song] and, being from Manchester… well, this is going to be tricky. But now I’ve got my own studio, I went and did a little demo of it and I was like ‘You know what? I think I might be able to pull this off.’ So we’re going to do ‘Love Will Tear Us Apart’ by the Divs.”

NOEL GALLAGHER Shares Playlist Called ‘MADE IN MANCHESTER

4 January 2023

Manchester’s rock hero NOEL GALLAGHER
is a natural-born music junkie and gig addict
who absorbed indie music of his hometown
long before Oasis.

He just uploaded a playlist on Spotify named MADE IN MANCHESTER
with indie oldies from bands such as Inspiral Carpets, Yargo, New FADs,
World Of Twist, Section25 and Dub Sex
. And as humble as he is he starts
with his own new single called Pretty Boy.

Here we go.

Film Of NOEL GALLAGHER’s Massive Homecoming Concert Last Month Will Stream From 21 Sept On

1 September 2023

Early June NOEL GALLAGHER dropped his 4th LP with his High Flying Bird. Council Skies
is a musical triumph proving once again that Noel G is a solid gold songsmith, specialised
in writing uncomplicated, but very effective anthems.

He played a massive – more than 25.000 fans – homecoming concert
on August‘s Bank Holiday at Manchester’s Wythenshawe Park.

BBC said about the show: “Noel Gallagher has delivered a superb career-spanning set at an emotionally charged homecoming show in Manchester. His gig at Wythenshawe Park on Saturday, a relative stone’s throw from his childhood home, was always going to be an big moment for the city. Mixing Oasis and High Flying Birds’ finery, it was the set that proved just how powerful a songwriter he is. It also showed why, despite what a baying crowd would wish, he has no need to consider a reunion with his brother.

More than 25,000 gathered in the park, which was hosting a huge gig for the first time, and many had memories of Knebworth, of Barrowlands, of those two legendary nights at Maine Road in mind, which meant that as fiery and ferocious as the delivery of his post-Oasis songs were, it was those from the 90s that really got the crowd going. But if that much longed-for reunion never comes to pass, there might just be enough brilliance in Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds to make up for it.”

The full performance was filmed and it will stream from September 21 on via the
On Air website and apps in cinematic 4K UHD with Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos.

NOEL GALLAGHER – New Not Looking Back In Anger Album ‘COUNCIL SKIES’ Out Today

2 June 2023

NOEL GALLAGHER and his HIGH FLYING BIRDS
are gearing up for their 4th full lenght, entitled
COUNCIL SKIES out today.

Noel G.: “The album goes back to the beginning, living under the council skies.
Daydreaming, looking up at the sky and wondering about what life could be.”.

Rolling Stone UK says: “True to his word, here is an album that takes stock of the thrilling journey that led him from humble Mancunian roots to global fame. The result is some of the best songs of his post-Oasis career. Gallagher proves why he’s been able to forge a consistently compelling solo career.” Score: 4/5.

TUTV: I always thought about NG as a melancholic boy looking over his shoulder
and wondering what ever happened in his youth (Don’t Look Back In Anger, Live Forever, Whatever, AKA… What A Life, Stop The Clocks). And I thought/think right as his new one is almost a full retrospective LP wrapped in psychedelic pop tunes. And that’s what he
always did best and still does. Writing top tunes, verse/chorus/verse/middle-eight/chorus, that appeal to millions. And one more thing, his great voice even gets better as he gets older. He doesn’t need Oasis.

The Cure’s ROBERT SMITH Remixes NOEL GALLAGHER Single ‘PRETTY BOY’ From His Upcoming Album

New striking strokes

8 March 2023

NOEL GALLAGHER and his High Flying Birds launch
their 4th LP, titled Council Skies on 11th June.

The lead single PRETTY BOY came out last November.
A psych pop strummer featuring Johnny Marr on guitar.

Robert Smith: “I was surprised and delighted when Noel asked me to remix this gorgeous song, and I had a lot of fun slowing it down and spacing it out. Cure drummer Jason Cooper gave me a great vibey drum track to play along with – and the rest just phased into place
under the starry sky of my distant moon.”

It’s not a radical remix. Just a bit dreamier
and trippier than the Gallagher version.

Tune in.
