Daily electricity to load your batteries

25 August 2024

Glam metal veterans MÖTLEY CRÜE (1981–2002, 2004–2015, 2018–present) have recorded an EP, named it Cancelled, and will share it with the world in October.

“It was really great getting in the studio and working on some tracks together. What
started out as a couple demo ideas turned into this EP produced by Bob Rock. We look
forward to getting back into the studio again soon and writing more new music, as well.”

One of the songs is a cover of Beastie Boys‘ smashing 1986 golden
oldie (You Gotta) Fight for Your Right (To Party!) which they already
played live.

LOL TOLHURST & BUDGIE Play THE CURE Live On KEXP

25 August 2025

Former The Cure member Lol Tolhurst, former Siouxsie And The Banshees
drummer Budgie, and Irish producer Jacknife Lee got together for last
year’s striking album Los Angeles featuring several guest vocalists.

Tolhurst and Budgie went out this year to promote the LP. Last June they stopped
at the KEXP studios in Seattle. Along with bassist Liam Hayden they played a short
set, including The Cure‘s 1980 classic A Forest which Tolhurst has a songwriting
credit for. A couple of days ago footage of that moment was put online. No idea
who the female voice is.

JOHNNY CASH Topped US Charts With His Live Prison Album ‘AT SAN QUENTIN’ 55 Years Ago Today

Back in time

24 August 2024

Today 55 years ago, on 24 August 1969, the late outlaw JOHNNY CASH,
one of the outstanding singer-songwriters/wordsmiths of all time released
his notorious live prison album AT SAN QUENTIN

A longplayer recorded at San Quentin State Prison on 24th February of that
same year. The prison was located north of San Francisco in the unincorporated
town of San Quentin in Marin County, California.

It was his 31st overall album. It went triple platinum in the US over the years.
He played and recorded in 3 other prisons afterward. The iconic photo on the
front sleeve is by Jim Marshall.

The most famous and masterly song (actually written by humorist/poet Shel Silverstein)
is without a shadow of a doubt A Boy Named Sue. That very live version became his greatest hit single ever. Here’s that marvellous story of a that boy.
