A Walk In The David Lynch Dark – Here’s BEAUTY IN CHAOS ft. CINTHYA HUSSEY

Reveries for the laziest day of the week…

31 January 2021

You love soul music with a shadowy edge? Well, I got
something that will satisfy your hungry desire.

Former sister of mercy on a mission legend Wayne Hussey and his gorgeous
Brazilian wife and spellbinding voice Cinthya Hussey teamed up with iconic
producer Tim Palmer (David Bowie, The Mission, U2, The Cure) and Beauty In
Chaos
ringleader/guitarist Michael Ciravolo for a walk in the dark called
THE DELICATE BALANCE OF ALL THINGS.

The bewitching performance and glamorous video clip (shot in Sao Paulo) wouldn’t
be out of place on David Lynch‘s 2001 mindfucker movie Mulholland Drive.

Here’s why…

Veteran Indie Rockers WEEZER Have Their New Guitarless Album ‘OK HUMAN’ Out Now!

31 January 2021

Band: WEEZER (Los Angeles, CA)
Active: Since 1992

Album: OK HUMAN – 14th LP
Released: 29 January 2021

Rolling Stone says: “The approach is a not-so-subtle nod at chamber-pop benchmarks
like Pet Sounds and Let It Be but without the confessional diary entries of the former or the sentimentality of the latter. Instead, Cuomo tempers his natural sense of humor to the mood
of the music and the world in front of him.”
Score: 7/10.

Turn Up The Volume: I never thought Weezer would ever make a full album without any guitar on as producing layers of electrical riffs & licks is what the band has been about for the whole of their career. Do I miss them? No (which I felt, to be honest, only after a couple of spins). Guitars out, violins in. Strings are made for bittersweet symphonies and you get a lot right here. An 8/10 for me.

The closing track of the LP is a cover of Placebo‘s 2006

Harakiri‘s take is a sky-touching, staggering thunder and lighting
haymaker starting off with some classical piano touches before
exploding like a furious volcano with blazing aaarrrggghhh vocals.

Bleak Stories For Bleak Times – Dutch Art-Rockers RATS ON RAFTS Twist Your Bleak Mind With Their New Album

30 January 2021

Band: RATS ON RAFTS
Who: Mind-boggling art-rockers from The Netherlands

Album: EXPERTS FROM CHAPTER 3: THE MIND RUNS A NET OF RABBIT PATHS – 3rd LP
Released: 29 January 2021

Info: “A psyche-fuelled journey into the id punctuated with rhythmic kabuki modal mood swings, thunderstorms, digital beeps, traffic noise, and just plain old beautiful cacophonous reverb-drenched sound when needed. Each song spins a yarn; there are plagues, dreams,
wind and fire, ‘mythical’ characters, and the search for the secret government warehouse. “

Louder Than War wrote: “One of the great contemporary European rock bands.”

Uncut says: “Recalling Brix-era Fall at their most-pop leaning.

Turn Up The Volume: Imagine Bauhaus‘ vox Peter Murphy backed by Siouxsie Sioux‘s
band The Banshees with the cutting edge of a young, confused Nick Cave when he was
in The Birthday Party. Bleak stories for bleak times. Like an unpublished dystopian novel
by George Orwell, titled ‘2021‘. Scary, ominous and pitch-black. Get out of your straitjacket, throw your meds in the dustbin, and fire your shrink. This record will take care of your science-fiction-like nightmares from now on. Rats On Rafts‘ apocalyptic writing is on the wall.
