Summer Of 2004 – August 20th – Divorce Over BRYAN ADAMS

20 August 2026

On 20 August 2004, Rob Tinsley, a man from Stoke-on-Trent, England, filed for divorce because his wife was madly in love with Canadian rock legend Bryan Adams.

For years, he spent trying to cope with his wife’s obsession with the singer. The man said he had to live with a 6-ft cutout of Adams that stood at the foot of the bed and posters on the bedroom walls.

Everything she did was for Adams.

Band: SMITT E. SMITTY & THE FEZZTONES
Who: Madcap Boston-based glam and glitter
rock notet.

Track: MOTOR CITY YANKEE

Smitty: “Many people in both the Detroit and Boston music community know of me, but they don’t really KNOW me,” Smitty says with a thunderous laugh. “I thought this would be a great way to get under the hood, and really show everyone what drives me. Both cities are part of my DNA. I decided a song referencing that fact was due. The guitar groove in the song is very reminiscent of an MC5 type of guitar line, by design.”

TUTV: Put this smoking cannonball on your hard rockin’, guitar freakin’ playlist along
big cannons Aerosmith and Guns N’ Roses. Never a dull moment with this flamboyant hit team. Put your leather jacket on, jump on your motorcycle, and pretend you’re Marlon Brando in the 1953 classic movie The Wild One.

Artist: KURTYS KIDD
Who: Rocker/actor from
Kingston, ON.

Track: OUT ON THE SPIRAL
First single from his upcoming,
2nd full-length, This Dirty Machine.

KK: “’Out On The Spiral Arm’ is a song about isolating yourself because you’re hurt, but then finding out that wherever you go you can find love if you open yourself to it. Love is all around us in this universe – but you have to be open to it to receive it.”

TUTV: Be ready for a titanic riff-insane jackhammer, revved up with burly vocals that will roll all over your stereo and over Beethoven. Kidd produces enough red-hot hooks-and-licks to get your ears burned. Fervent fan of classic thunderous-heavy rock, annex flaming guitar solos? Here’s some fierce fuel to start you up.

Band: SUCCULENTS
Who: Manchester’s girl-and-boy-next-door lo-fi indie duo
who blend upfront plugged-in guitar riffs, candy-floss-sweet harmonies and a sense of joyful togetherness intact.

Track: WORK IT OUT

“The song is about conflict resolution, but also about that strange apathy you can feel when you’re surrounded by constant arguments, whether that’s protests, politics or toxic online spats. The protagonist is almost taking the attitude of ‘I can’t be bothered with this’, while knowing that sometimes avoiding conflict doesn’t necessarily make it disappear. ‘Be careful what you wish for’ is probably the most important line in the song.”

TUTV: Full steam ahead from the kick-off. A flood of jangly guitars overwhelms your eardrums, while the stoked duo comes up with brisk vocals pushing the pace even further, with urgency and panache. For everybody who likes to twist and shout now and then, this is the melodic barnstormer to play when you lose your temper; for everybody else, this indie buzz is what you wish for. We’ll work it out together.

Here.
Now.

Malcolm Middleton (1995–2006, 2011, 2016–present).

Track: BE A MAN
Newest single from their 9th LP, called Half-Told Tales.
Out on September 4th.

TUTV: After 3 steamy synth-drum-guitar-stimulating stompers
the Scots take it easy for this moody, mixed-emotions mind trip.

GETDOWN SERVICES – English Daft Disco-Punk Groovers Turn It Up And Get Down On 2nd LP ‘MASSIVE CHAMPION’

20 August 2026

Band: GETDOWN SERVICES
Who: Wacky disco-rap-punk duo
from Bristol, UK

Album: MASSIVE CHAMPION.
Their sophomore one.

Press info: “An odyssey of anarchic joy, seditious wit and boundless energy, the LP finds Josh Law and Ben Sadler pushing deeper into the singular world they have been building for years, while opening up new emotional and lyrical ground. The record was written in green rooms, on long car journeys and in the gaps between relentless touring.”

Album artwork

NME: “The buzzy Minehead-via-Bristol party-starters shake off the ‘joke band’ label and
face up to doubt on nuanced album number two. Getdown Services are not Sleaford Mods
for the microbrew crowd or the Yard Act fit for a stag do, they are something of their own
and something to be taken quite seriously.

We could have done with a bit more of the party to beat the pity, but they’ve at least
delivered one of the unlikeliest real pleasures of a bleak 2026, so suck on that.”

TUTV: They go up, they get down. Up again. Down again. At first I was confused by the
by now pretty famous indie duo’s changing sonic moods breaking down the record’s
flow.

Lullabies, rock outs, moony mid-tempo reflections. One tune they put you in a soothing modus with a lullaby. The next tune they plug in their amps for a couple of pelvis-shaking firecrackers. And then back to some life-reflecting/watching thoughts, daily reveries, existentialist questions, and some depressing moments. Quite something else than
their non-stop groovy fiesta debut.

But I didn’t give up, as I felt some sort of connection anyway, and I kept on listening,
and it all started to make sense. This record’s emotional fluctuations, musically, vocally
and lyrically, became one full Getdown Services picture/experience that sticks seamlessly
in the end. I wonder if you will be affected to or not, people?

20 August 2026

Last week British two-engine blues rock tandem ROYAL BLOOD shared
details of their upcoming 5th full-length. It’s named Dead Company and
will see the day of light on November 13th. Tracklist and press info here.

Album artwork

Along with the news came the lead single.
As expected, a roaring riff-loaded whopper.

And it’s promo time now.

They talked to Kerrang! about the new record: “We just came in with this totally refreshed energy to make music again. We were back in a room together, writing, writing music together, and feeling the sound waves hit you, and that’s when you get excited again.”It was jamming to get enough material to go and play live. And with the next records, you have to progress, and you learn how to yeah do things differently.”

SINA MATIX – American Darkwave Act Unleashes Hammer Blow Single ‘KILLING THE CURSE’

Daily electricity to load your batteries

19 August 2026

Band: SINA MATIX
Who: Florida-based musical project that addresses dark themes with
a cinematic sound infused with samples for context.  As a result, a new
sub-genre is born. One that can only be described as “dark dramatic electro”.

Track: KILLING THE CURSE
Brand new single.

“It’s about those life-changing moments when an event occurs and uproots a person
and puts them into a state of the unknown. Bad luck, divorce, backstabbing, instability
along with a fear of commitment, this goes on for years, until a person finally gets the
strength to push the “reboot” button on their life. The reboot is “Killing The Curse”.

TUTV: Wham bloody wham bam. Echoes of the brutal industrial intimidation of Ministry and the hypnotic electronics of Front 242 come together here on this nasty electro-punk hammer blow, spiked with alarming vocals. No rest for the wicked. No time to lose. Prepare your stereo for some commotion. Reboot immediately.

MAN/WOMAN/CHAINSAW – Wayward Brit Indies Have Bodacious Debut Album ‘CANNONBALL’ Out

19 August 2026

Credit M/W/C

Band: MAN/WOMAN/CHAINSAW
Who: Unadulterated indies
from London, UK.

Album: CANNONBALL.
Their debut. Buy here.

NME: “Arty South London upstarts evolve into an inescapable 12-legged beast on expansive album to make you dance, smile tremble and weep. Here’s a band for whom perfection is just around the corner as they fine-tune the engine to reach a cleaner and more regular lift-off, but for now enjoy one of the most accomplished debuts of the year and a surefire Mercury Prize 2027 nominee. This cannonball makes one hell of a splash.”

TUTV: Man/Woman/Chainsaw join the (new) generation of new Brit-post-punk artilleries that started sometime post Brex-shit, with innovative bands such as Black Midi (already gone), Black Country New Road, Squid, Ditz, Bdrmm and newcomers Modern Woman, Westside Cowboy, Mary In The Junkyard, and My New Band Believe.

They have one thing in common: looking for new musical angels, exciting ideas
and unconventional soundscapes, within the broad rock-pop-punk universe, without
being arty farty.

M/W/C does it now for the first time with this debut LP. Whimsical, chopped-up song structures, spine-tingling melodiousness, two perfervid vocalists, nightmarish stories, versatile violins and capricious orchestrations. Everything in place to score a bodacious firstborn. Have a bloodcurdling trip.

KEY TRACKS: Goddamm, LizardMan! / Nosedive / Flick Of The Wrist / The Thing / Still Angry

HENRY ROLLINGS About TED NUGENT

19 August 2026

Rollins about Trump/MAGA junk Ted Nugent.

My Nugent records are kind of like my guilty pleasures. I can defend his guitar playing on any battlefield. Then you hear the stuff he says and then you’re like: Ahhh! I just ruins my day. I can’t do it.”

Just go away, macho.

ECHO & THE BUNNYMEN Have Their 12th Album Out On September 18th – Info & Its 2 Anthemic Singles (thus far) Here

Photo by Turn Up The Volume

19 August 2026

Photo Turn Up The Volume – Leuven, Belgium

No expiration date for Liverpool‘s indestructible post-punk-pop rockers
ECHO & THE BUNNYMEN (one of my all-time fav bands, on record and
on stage), fronted by big mouth/songwriter Ian McCulloch.

On 18 September they will share their 13th LP with the world.
It’s their first in 12 years, titled APPLES FOR ISAAC. No idea who
that Isaac guy is. Order info here.

Album artwork

Press info: After years spent performing their immense catalog of classics to
audiences around the world, the Bunnymen have recorded an album that is as
bold as it is vulnerable, that perfectly captures the essence of what makes
the band so great.

All but one of the tracks features the late Blondie drummer
Clem Burke, who sadly passed away during its creation.

2 appetizers, thus far.

– BRUSSELS IS HAUNTED –

The song explores the ghosts and characters of the Belgian
capital haunted by World War 2. I’m from Belgium, Ian. What
do you actually mean here?

– THE LIGHT THAT SURROUNDS YOU –

McCulloh offers hope, redemption
and another anthemic gem.
