GABBA GABBA HEY – 45 Years Ago Today

Works faster and harder than caffeine

31 December 1977

On 31 December 1977 – 45 years ago – rock ‘n’ roll high school legends RAMONES
played a sold out New Year’s Eve concert at the historic Rainbow Theatrein London.

And 45 years later the New York City punks still thrill millions of people, me included.
This live rendition of – their biggest slam dunk in my book – BLITZKRIEG BOP (more
than 200 million streams on Spotify) – that night still is gabba-gabba-hey glorious.

Happy 76 to an astonishing poet
singer/songwriter, performer, and
human being.

Three unforgettable moments.

Because the night belongs to lovers
Because the night belongs to lust

Baby was a black sheep. Baby was a whore
Baby got big and baby get bigger
Baby get something. Baby get more
Baby, baby, baby was a rock-and-roll nigger

Late afternoon, dreaming hotel
We just had the quarrel that sent you away
I was looking for you, are you gone gone?

With 2023 just around the corner Brooklyn‘s dream pop TINY GHOSTS brings us a sweet little pearl called AmorAmor. It’s actually the Spanish version of the single LoveLove that the tandem released back in January.

Dayan Marquina (singer): “Heartbreak sometimes happens in slow motion with a back-and-forth trying to put the other at serve. This gave me the idea to turn to a tennis metaphor and both being at zero – LoveLove.”

Eric Morgan (guitarist): “This song was fun to create as it is very guitar-forward and pulls from a lot of inspiration from the bands we grew up like Thursday and Taking Back Sunday. The main textures in the song are all guitar built — the dark synthy sounding ethereal layer was built with a long chain of downshifting delay pedals and the quick melodies are sampled from the tapping part after the first chorus.”

As John Lennon once sang before the world Tiny Ghosts also know that all you need is love. We all actually know it, but I guess many, if not all of us, ignore sometimes the equality of all the people involved in our lives, leading mostly to broken hearts in the end. Let’s give it another shot in 2023, starting here with this song. You actually don’t need to understand Spanish. The feel, timbre, and tone says it all. It’s about AmorAmor.

Game. Set. Match.

Take That Idiot! – Shout Out For GRETA THUNBERG

former kickboxer, infamous misogynist, and
far-right wanker Andrew Tate challenged Swedish environmental
activist Greta Thunberg with this message on Twitter:

“Hello I have 33 cars. My Bugatti has a W16 [eight-litre] quad turbo [engine].
My TWO Ferrari 812 Competizione have [6.5-litre] V12s. This is just the start.
Please provide your email address so I can send a complete list of my car
collection and their respective enormous emissions.

Thunberg’s reaction was just brilliant.

It’s almost a year now since psycho Putin and his troops invaded Ukraine. And the end of the war seems to be far, far away. The Ukrainian people already live for 10 months under the shadow of bombs. Every day is one of life/death, hope/despair, and relief/fear. We need to keep on standing with them and supporting them.

It’s good to know that Sheffield‘s noiseniks RAT CAGE have the perfect sonic missile, with
their new smack UNDER THE SHADOW OF THE BOMB, to hit that megalomaniacal
charlatan between the eyes. To hell with Putin!

Drop here, drop now.
