DAIISTAR – Texan Daydreamers Shine On A Perfect ‘CLEAR’ Day

21 March 2024

Band: DAIISTAR
Who: Noise-pop upstarts from Austin, Texas.

Last year they launched their debut album Good Time. An 80s/90s-indebted
blend of narcotic noise and melody produced by Alex Maas of The Black Angels
and engineered by White Denim‘s James Petralli.

New single: CLEAR

The song will be released on a limited neon-pink 7″ due out May 10th via
Fuzz Club. I’ll be backed by a Sonic Boom remix of ‘Good Time’ album track
Velvet Reality on the B-side. Pre-order info here.

Alex Capistran (guitar/vocals): “The idea behind ‘Clear’ was to write the perfect song
for a perfect day. A song that comes to mind on a warm and sunny afternoon; inspiring thoughts of attainable bliss and encouraging you to dream up something nice for your
future self.”

TUTV: Life should feel like this soothing sonic reverie, once in a while.
Far away from our grim reality, far away from the restless times we
live in.

Clear sparkles and shines like a rainbow colouring the sky. Its symphonic
Sigur Rós sonority created by shoegazy guitar layers and angelic vocals
transfers you to la-la land. It feels like drinking Sangria in the park on
a perfect day as Lou Reed once sang, gently and tenderly.

Dream pop at its romantic best. There’s always a light at the end
of the tunnel, even how small it can be. You know where the repeat
button is.

DAIISTAR – Texan Indie Outfit Overwhelm With Psychedelic Jam ‘REPEATER’

New striking strokes

9 August 2023

Band: DAIISTAR
Who: Noise-pop/alt-indie quartet from Austin, Texas
who started up during the awful pandemic times.

New single: REPEATER

The third one (stream all 3 below on Spotify) from their
forthcoming debut album Good Time, out on 8 September
via Fuzz Club Records.

Album cover

Alex Capistran (guitar/vocals) writes: “Repeater is a voyage through the darker
side of the human consciousness. It’s common for people to mask what’s on the inside
and in this track we travel beyond the exterior. The lyrics are minimal with the intent of
focusing on the music itself and how it intensifies as the song progresses. On this track
we journey inward only to find ourselves spiralling out in the end.”

TUTV: This is a 24-Karat psychedelic juggernaut. A multi-guitar-layered gem
with a hallucinatory effect. Think British shoegazers Slowdive and The Jesus
And Mary Chain
teaming up and turning up the decibels.

Repeater creeps slowly but surely under your skin with its hypnotizing slo-mo
groove, its dreamy vocals and its spellbinding chorus with all burners on. It’s
a jumbo jam. For me, the track might have go on on for about 10 minutes more.
Much kudos to the one who invented the repeat(er) button. It’s a jumbo jam

No wonder this band was picked to join big psych rock
names The Black Angels and The Dandy Warhols on tour.

Texan Rockers DAIISTAR Release Sick Psych Smack ‘TRACEMAKER’

Daily electricity to load your batteries

27 April 2023

Band: DAIISTAR
Who: Noisy misfits
from Austin, Texas

They recently recorded their first studio album produced by frontman Alex Maas of The Black Angels and engineered by James Petralli of White Denim and arrives later in the year.

New single: TRACEMAKER

Alex Capistran (guitar/vocals): “There was a time in my life when I wanted to push the boundary of existence both physically and mentally. The memories I have of those days are vague and abstract just like the words written for ‘Tracemaker,’ but when it’s all put together you begin to understand the meaning. It’s one of my favorite songs on the album and a good indicator of what’s to come from DAIISTAR. We are thrilled to set home base with FUZZ CLUB and can’t wait to share more with the world.”

TUTV: This is a sick psych smack. Think Black Rebel Motorcycle Club and Jesus And
The Mary Chain
having a roaring riff contest with The Brian Jonestown Massacre‘s
mastermind Anton Newcombe as the referee. Sounds amazeballs, right? You betcha.

Tracemaker swings forth and back with a wall-of-schizophrenic-guitar sound,
Misti Hamrick
‘s sensual voice and tons of feedback. A mad motherrocker of
a groove. These are the kind of bad-ass belters the on-repeat button was
invented for. Bang on!

Roll the tape.
Go mental.

Also st(r)eaming on Spotify.
