SONNY & CHER Released Their Biggest Hit ‘I GOT YOU BABE’ 60 Years Ago Today

Pop star duo SONNY & CHER (1964–1977), who were
married for 11 years, scored a series of hits in the 60s/70s
with I GOT YOU BABE as their biggest one.

It was written by Sonny Bono.

After his musical career, Sonny became major of Palm Springs, CA
from 1982-1992. He passed away in 1998, of injuries incurred when
he hit a tree while skiing.

The song was released on 9 July 1965. Today 60 years ago.
It went to No. 1 in the US, UK, Canada and New Zealand and
was a Top-10 hit all over Europe.

Happy 71 CHRISSIE HYNDE

Christine Ellen Hynde was born in Akron, Ohio on 7 September 1951. Happy 71 to an utterly cool songstress who flew to London in the mid 70s to dive into the punk scene of London where she joined the young brats who hung out at the late Sex Pistols manager Malcolm McLaren’s fashion clothes shop SEX.

Later she was a writer for NME magazine, before starting her band
The Pretenders in 1978 who made 11 LPs between 1979 and 2020
and had multiple singles hits.
