The late Jamaican reggae master BOB MARLEY who passed
away in 1981 due to cancer (only 36) had a huge hit with the
live version of NO WOMAN, NO CRY.

A song that appeared originally in 1974 on his LP Natty Dread

It was recorded at the Lyceum Theatre in London on 17 July 1975
for his Live! LP and released as a single (the best-known version)
today 50 years ago, on 17 July 1975

The songwriting credit was given to Vincent Ford, a friend of Marley‘s
who ran a soup kitchen in Trenchtown, the ghetto of Kingston, Jamaica,
where Marley grew up The royalty payments received by Ford ensured
his efforts would continue. Class, Bob!

45 years ago – 5 December 1975 – a registration of the late great reggae crusader
BOB MARLEY‘s London show in July that year, simply called LIVE! saw the day of light
and became a huge success mostly due to the fact that the track No Woman, No Cry became a hit when it was released as a single.
