JOHN LENNON and his PLASTIC ONO BAND scored a #1 hit in the US
50 years ago, on 16 November 1974. His only Number One in America,
during his lifetime). It peaked at #36 in the UK.

Elton John played piano on it and did some harmony vocals. He made
a deal with the late genial Beatle that if the song reached No.1, Lennon
would have to join him as a guest at one of Elton‘s shows in Madison
Square Garden in NYC.

Lennon kept his promise and played 3 songs
with John a few weeks later on 28 Nov 1974,
today 50 years ago.

It’s a 20-song concept LP about imaginary brothers Henry and Howard
Coward, a trans-Atlantic pair of con men who may or may not be blood
