Watch THOM YORKE and RADIOHEAD play a spine-tingling version of one of their best songs ever ‘FAKE PLASTIC TREES‘ (from their superb 1995 Bends album) at Glastonbury Festival in 2017. It starts magically acoustic and explodes midway into a rousing epic knockout. Just awesome…
When you were here before
Couldn’t look you in the eye
You’re just like an angel
Your skin makes me cry
You float like a feather
In a beautiful world
And I wish I was special
You’re so fuckin’ special
But I’m a creep, I’m a weirdo.
What the hell am I doing here?
I don’t belong here.
I don’t care if it hurts
I want to have control
I want a perfect body
I want a perfect soul
I want you to notice
When I’m not around
You’re so fuckin’ special
I wish I was special
But I’m a creep, I’m a weirdo.
What the hell am I doing here?
I don’t belong here.

9 June 2018
Band: RADIOHEAD
Album: HAIL TO THE THIEF
Released: 9 June 2003
ROLLING STONE wrote: ” ‘Hail To The Thief’ is a product of its moment: recorded in late
2002, during the American and British governments’ slow, inevitable march to Iraq, of which lead singer Thom Yorke was an outspoken opponent. Hail is filled with images of monstrous, Orwellian force from which there is no escape. On ‘Sit down. Stand up’ Yorke assumes the
voice of Big Brother, giving rote, meaningless orders — ‘Sit down/Stand up’ — over and over. With equal parts whine and sneer, he says, “We can wipe you out anytime.” Radiohead have always been paranoid and pessimistic, but thanks to recent history, people who used to seem paranoid now seem prudent.” Score: 4/5 – Full review here
TURN UP THE VOLUME says: A haunting, hypnotic and hair-raising record from
one of the most creative and visionary bands of all time. Never duplicating themselves. Always challenging and exploring new sonic fields. Always strikingly opinionated and
arresting, time and again.
THREE TOP TRACKS: Sit Down Stand Up / 2 + 2 = 5 / There, There
* SIT DOWN STAND UP – ‘Walk into the jaws of hell’
* 2 + 2 = 5 – ‘I’ll stay home forever / Where two and two always makes a five’
THERE, THERE – ‘Just ’cause you feel it / Doesn’t mean it’s there’

20 February 2018
Band: RADIOHEAD Album: PABLO HONEY – the band’s debut Released: 22 February 1993 – 25 years ago… Rolling Stone wrote: “Flashing a song called ‘Creep’ as a musical ID takes cheek, but then, everything about these Brits is unabashed. On their debut, the swagger affected by every
arch-Anglo since the Kinks is already in full effect. Three guitars (and bass) and a singer
whose narcissistic angst rivals Morrissey’s (‘I will not control myself!’) Thom Yorke screams on ‘Vegetable’ and on ‘Prove Yourself’ he mourns, ‘I’m better off dead’), these five Oxford lads come on extreme. What elevates them to fab charm is not only the feedback and strumming fury of their guitar work — and the dynamism of their whisper-to-a-scream song structures — which recall the Who by way of the early Jam, but the way their solid melodies and sing-along choruses resonate pop appeal. If they don’t implode from attitude overload, Radiohead warrant watching.” Turn Up The Volume! says: their very first step to awesomeness,
geniusness and massiveness… Three Top Tracks: How Do You? / Creep / Thinking About You
* HOW DO YOU? – Radiohead would never rock like this again – nasty and rowdy…
* CREEP – simply unavoidable, because it’s a 24 Karat Gold classic…
RADIOHEAD have shared the studio version of a song titled I PROMISE. It’s one of the
three previously unreleased tracks from the OK Computer sessions that will be on the upcoming reissue called OKNOTOK to celebrate the 20th birthday of that outstanding magnum opus. All details here. The track is really a mesmeric pearl, a gripping ballad,
a touching beauty with softly marching drums, tenderly acoustic guitar, emotionally orchestral arrangements, an intensely captivating melody and Thom Yorke‘s vulnerable
and heart-rending voice. A truly epic beauty about regret, hope, sorrow and profound love. The accompanying video is a masterpiece too. I wept when I saw the clip the first time and couldn’t but think about all the innocent victims, hurt families and friends of those awful, recent tragedies in Manchester and London…
I won’t run away no more, I promise
Even when I get bored, I promise
Even when you lock me out, I promise
I say my prayers every night, I promise
I don’t wish that I’m strict, I promise
The tantrums and the chilling chats, I promise
Even when the ship is wrecked, I promise
Tie me to the rotten deck, I promise
I won’t run away no more, I promise
Even when I get bored, I promise
Even when the ship is wrecked, I promise
Tie me to the rotten deck, I promise
I won’t fool around no more, I promise
Even when I get bored, I promise
Even when you lock me out, I promise
I say my prayers every night, I promise
I won’t fool around no more, I promise
