She detailes the interpersonal relationships that define our lives in surprisingly staightforward ways. She winds her words around common themes with just enough of a literate twist. Smith has, so far, released 3 albums.

Track: FREEDOM
From her newest
album, Transience.

Acoustic guitar melancholia
Appealing, entrancing voice.

WOLF ALICE Drop Introspective Power Ballad ‘THE SOFA’ From Their New Upcoming Album

Reveries for the laziest day of the week

13 July 2025

New album artwork

London‘s guitar pop stars WOLF ALICE revealed details of their new,
4th longplayer 2 months ago. It’s named The Clearing and will show
up on August 29th.

Following the peppy lead single Boom Baby Boom
we get a second appetizer with the introspective power
ballad THE SOFA.

Ellie Rowsell (frontwoman) “It’s about not trying so hard to figure everything out,
reflecting on getting older and trying not to agonize over things that have or haven’t
happened in your life. It’s also about trying to get to grips with the polarizing aspects
of one’s life when you’re in a band.

You’ve just played a huge tour and you come home, and you have your dinner on the sofa.
For me, it’s summed up in how I treat TV. I used to never watch the same thing twice because
I thought I’ve got so much to discover! And now I’m like, It’s OK if I just want to rewatch Peep Show for the 13th time.”

Have a seat, Ellie.

At 67 PAUL WELLER is one of those enduring artists with a high percentage of music in
his blood. Following his angry young man years with The Jam and five LPs with his posh project The Style Council he started his top-ranking solo career in 1992. Since then, he has released 17 albums.

And #18, named El Dorado, is out on July 25th.
It’s a covers album (tracklist below). One of them
is the Bee Gees‘ 1968 pearl I STARTED A JOKE.
Weller‘s take is classy.

NEIL YOUNG Duets With Beach Boy AL JARDINE On Romantic Gem ‘MY PLANE LEAVES TOMORROW (AU REVOIR)’

Reveries for the laziest day of the week

1 June 2025

AL JARDINE, the now 82-year-old, former beach boy co-vocalist/co-founder
has no plans to retire. He just released a 4-track EP titled Islands In The Sun .

It’s his first new music since his 2010 LP, named
A Postcard From California. Actually his only
solo album.

It features two tunes written by Jardine himself, and two reworked
versions of The Coasters’ Leiber/Stoller classics ‘Smokey Joe’s Café’ and
‘Crumple Car’.

One of the two Jardine written songs, a romantic tearjerker named MY PLANE LEAVES TOMORROW (AU REVOIR) features vocals by living legend Neil Young and a short trumpet moment by Red Hot Chili Peppers bassist Flea. Their parts were already recorded during the ‘Posctard From California’ sessions, but Jardine only finished the song recently.

Have a listen. It’s a beauty.

The whole EP is a nostalgic beauty.

.
Jardine will play a handful of gigs with his Pet Sounds Band this summer.

PETER DOHERTY’s Balloon Is Out Of Tune

Reveries for the laziest day of the week

18 May 2025

Since PETER DOHERTY got clean and living in France with his wife and big dog, far away from the temptations of party cities he became quite productive, releasing albums with one-time outfit Puta Madres, with French musician Frédéric Lo and with his first-and-forever band The Libertines he scored one of the best albums of 2024 with All Quiet
On The Eastern Esplanade
.

And last Friday he launched his 3rd solo longplayer, named Felt Better Alive .

The Independent (British newspaper) says: “These new songs are charming, callous,
witty, boorish, tender, transcendent and obnoxious by turns or all at once. Doherty remains
a charismatic scene evoker – even though you can’t follow the thread of all his tales, he still makes you feel you were there.”

One of the jaunty tunes is OUT OF TUNE BALLOON
(great song title, lol). A playful pub ditty for all.

BRIAN ENO And BEATIE WOLFE Enchant With 3 Beauties From Their 2 Upcoming Collaborative Albums

Daily electricity to load your batteries

11 May 2025

Former Roxy Music alien BRIAN ENO and songstress BEATIE WOLFE met for the first
time in 2022 at the SXSW festival. They met again while exhibiting visual and conceptual art pieces in London and began recording together early last year.

The result is not one, but two albums, named
Luminal and Lateral, both out on June 6th.

Eno/Wolfe: “Music is about making feelings happen. Some of those feelings are familiar,
while others may not be—or may be complex mixtures of several different feelings. There
are many beautiful words for such feelings in other languages and cultures—words that
don’t exist in English.

By giving a feeling a name, we make that feeling more likely to be felt, more tangible.
Art is able to trigger feelings, or feeling mixtures, that we’ve never quite felt before. In
this way, a piece of Art can become the ‘mother’ for a type of feeling, and a place you
can go to find and re-experience that feeling.”

Listen to the three atmospheric, enchanting and
musing beauties they shared recently (so far).
