Rowdy Canadian 4-Piece ALTAMEDA With New Searing Single ‘LOSING SLEEP’…

Daily fuel to load your sonic batteries…

14 November 2018

Band: ALTAMEDA

Who: From Edmonton, Canada Altameda (æl-tah-MI-da) is a thrilling unit that evolved into a band with a bold, and unrelenting sound. It’s the culmination of experience, both musical and rawly human, that makes Altameda the band they are.

Pick: LOSING SLEEP – ‘An echoing shout from the bottom of the well of human emotion. Not a cry for help, but rather a cry of resilience while clawing your way back to the surface. ‘ says the band about the new single from their upcoming sophomore full-length.

Score: This is a fired up rocker injected with greedy guitars, bashing percussion, pushing vocals, who-ho harmonies and some glowing keys here and there. Hefty stroke, brawny punch. All you need to get your lazy neighborhood out of its sleep. Start the wake-up call right here…

California’s Vivid Garage Rockers FEELS Share New Single ‘CAR’…

Brand new sonic impulses

13 November 2018

(pic: FB Feels)

California’s garage rock squad FEELS, led by frontwoman Laena Geronimo and singer-songwriter Shannon Lay had their 2016 self-titled debut LP produced by 24/7 musician
Ty Segall and it was released on Oh Sees frontman John Dwyer’s indie imprint Castle Face. Now the band announce follow-up longplayer Post Earth, out in February next year via Witchita. Here’s the first taster, single CAR. A fervent mid-tempo rocker. “A tongue-in-cheek guided tour around a twisted political landscape where everything’s a lie and ignorance is bliss,” explains the band. Watch the accompanying band on the run style video clip right here…

Irish Turbine FONTAINES D.C. Going ‘TOO REAL’ On New Rollercoaster Single…

Brand new sonic impulses

(photo: Deborah Sheedy)

Kick-ass punk rock is still alive and hitting fiercely again. Next to English forces Idles and Shame Irish candid-sharp rockers FONTAINES D.C. are coming up very strong with their sagacious observations, their sonic blitz and fevered anthems. After seeing them live a couple of months ago (review here). I’m totally hooked. Following an already remarkable series of biting and knockout singles here’s another new one, called TOO REAL. A febrile rollercoaster jam with frontman Grian Chatten asking urgently on repeat “Is it too real for ya?“. Another shaking cut! Check the blazing whirlwind and intriguing video clip right here…

Psychedelic Pop Magicians THE FLAMING LIPS Caused Massive Screams Of Joy In AMSTERDAM…

THE FLAMING LIPS – Melkweg, Amsterdam, The Netherlands – 11 November 2018

Early 2017 Oklahoma‘s psychedelic pop orchestra THE FLAMING LIPS blew my and many others’ heads off in Antwerp, Belgium with their sensational and spectacular phantasy show – full review right here. Yesterday the impressive ‘all you need is love‘ symphonic magicians did it again at the fabulous and utterly cosy 1500-cap Melkweg in rainy Amsterdam.

Although it was, visually and aurally, a similar performance as last year, my experience this time was totally overwhelming as I witnessed the whole extravaganza from the very front-line and also the cutting impact on your adrenalin’s flow of whatever happened anywhere at anytime last night was so direct and intense because of the intimate structure of this warmly brilliant small-sized venue. Encouraged constantly by the tireless Wayne Coyne, the incomparable and highly emotional Maestro of The Lips Spectacle the raving crowd screamed of joy for the whole mind-boggling journey. You really had to be there, in the heat of the moment, to fully feel the unstoppable stream of ecstasy. Hail to The Flaming Lips. Thanks, again, for 2 hours of mesmerizing magic! I’m still on a cloud while writing.

Here are some pictures from last night’s fireworks
