SIOUXSIE AND THE BANSHEES Chantent French Christmas Chanson ‘I’l EST NÉ, LE DIVIN ENFANT’

Daily fuel to load your batteries…

25 December 2020

In the early eighties Goth icons SIOUXSIE AND THE BANSHEES, with
The Cure‘s Robert Smith as temporary member, covered classic French
Christmas lullaby I’l Est Né Le Divin Enfant (‘He is born, the divine child’).

The song was published for the first time in 1874 by the organist of
the cathédrale de Saint-Dié-des-Vosges in France.

The Banshees released their version as the B-side of the single Melt,
a great track from their excellent 1982 LP A Kiss In The Dreamhouse.

Siouxsie in French… fantastique!

Hallelujah! Let’s all sing for peace,
tolerance, equality, love and unity…

Coming In 2021… CLOUD NOTHINGS

25 December 2020

Band: CLOUD NOTHINGS
Who: Cleveland’s noise junks, led by
singer-songwriter Dylan Baldi, fooling
around with poppy edges.

Album: THE SHADOW I REMEMBER – 8th LP
Produced by Steve Albini.
Out: 26 February 2021 – details here.

Info: The songs are kept trim, mostly around the three-minute mark,
while being gleefully overstuffed. Almost every musical part turns into
at least two parts, with guitar and drums opening up and the bass
switching gears. “That’s the goal—I want the three-minute song to be
an epic,
Baldi says. “That’s the short version of the long-ass jam.”

RICK PARFITT – The 24/7 STATUS QUO Rocker Passed Away 4 Years Ago Today

24 December 2020

(Pic by Turn Up The Volume! 2015)

Why do I remember RICK PARFITT here every year since he passed away 4 years ago on 24 December? Because he was the 24/7 blonde God riff-king of legendary 12-bar boogie rockers STATUS QUO. And? Well, I saw the Quo about a million times live. Am I serious? You bet. It was always no-nonsense-sweaty-head-banging fun. Always! I repeat always.

R.I.P. RICK!
