DUSTY HILL, the longtime bassist for bearded Texan rock turbo ZZ TOP
has passed away at 72. Hill was on a ‘short detour’ at home to take time
to heal a hip issue, but no cause of death has been reported.

His bandmates Billy Gibbons and Frank Beard posted this message on Facebook:

“We are saddened by the news today that our Compadre, Dusty Hill, has passed away in
his sleep at home in Houston, TX. We, along with legions of ZZ Top fans around the world,
will miss your steadfast presence, your good nature and enduring commitment to providing that monumental bottom to the ‘Top’. We will forever be connected to that “Blues Shuffle in C.”
You will be missed greatly, amigo.”

To honor and remember the man here’s, probably their most famous hit ever…

Jason Pierce about late legend Dr. John playing on closing track ‘Cop Shoot Cop‘:
“I just wrote a letter, sent the track and his response was immediate. He said “absolutely, absolutely, love it”. It was where he wanted to be. I was completely in awe of him and his
playing and everything he put to it. I could hardly speak, to be honest. Not that I needed
to speak much. It didn’t add anything little or less to the proceedings. It was an amazing
session, amazing to do.”

in Space’ alongside the best art: Jason Pierce and a big band that included his ex-girlfriend
