MARK LANEGAN – 20th Anniversary Edition Of Album ‘BUBBLEGUM’ Out Now

MARK LANEGAN who was a member of many bands/projects (Screaming Trees,
QOTSA, The Gutter Twins and more) and scored 12 solo LPs, passed away in 2022,
at the age of 57. No cause of death was revealed.

One of his most praised albums, BUBBLEGUM
turned 20, two weeks ago, on August 10, 2004.

A 20th Anniversary Box set that includes a remastered double LP edition of the original album and a 4XLP/3XCD/Digital release containing 40 remastered tracks, 12 of which are previously unreleased, is out now. More info here.

Happy 75 To Former THE STRANGLERS Frontman HUGH CORNWELL

Singer-songwriter-guitarist Hugh Cornwell was born in North London on 28 August 1949. Happy 75 to the former frontman of legendary punk/new wave band The Stranglers.

He played with the band from 1974 to 1990, writing/recording/releasing 10 LPs.
He launched a career as a solo artist. So far he has 10 albums out, with Moments
Of Madness as his most recent one (2022). He also worked with other artists. In
2016 he released an album written with Manchester‘s punk poet John Cooper Clarke.

MANIC STREET PREACHERS – Welsh Heroes Tease New Music

Welsh heroes MANIC STREET PREACHERS
released 14 LPs (so far) since they started
in 1986.

The Manics posted (see below)
a 20-second message on their
socials.

The clip opens with a quote from Welsh poet Dylan Thomas:
“The highest hymns of the sun are written in the dark” while
blazing guitars kick in.

It’s obvious that new music is coming soon.
First single of album number 15?

B-52’s voice/face/wig KATE PIERSON (aged 76 now) launches her 2nd solo LP, named Radio And Rainbows on September 20th, nine after her debut Guitars And Microphones.

Second taster TAKE ME BACK TO THE PARTY is an
out-and-out dancefloor filler to shake your booty to.

Mural Of SHANE McGOWAN In Tipperary, Ireland To Be Unveiled Next Month

A large mural of the late legendary The Pogues singer/songwriter
SHANE MacGOWAN will be officially unveiled in his second hometown
of Nenagh in the county of Tipperary In Ireland next month.

Tipperary town-based artist Neil O’Dwyer started work on the mural several
weeks ago, but he said there was lots of work yet to be done before the
inauguration.

The three Las Vegas Kropp brothers, musically known as PALAYE ROYALE
have been screaming around since 2008 and as announced earlier on their
4th LP, named Death Or Glory will hit the streets on August 30.

DARK SIDE OF THE SILVER SPOON is the 4th track the bros share. It rolls forward
fast, sounds like an early The Libertine single and pays tribute to Mott The Hoople‘s
classic All The Young Dudes‘ around the 2-minute mark.
