THE FOOL’S AGENDA – American Garage-Grunge Quartet Steamroll On New Single DUMB (TAKE ME OUT)

Daily electricity to load your batteries

15 August 2025

Band: THE FOOL’S AGENDA
Who: Cynically whimsical grunge-pop quartet from Salem, Massachusetts led by
vocalist Rhiannon Raine. They released their debut album Reversing The Tower
in 2021.

Track:DUMB (TAKE ME OUT)

“Rock and roll has never been about being cool or trendy – it’s always been misfits making
art to feel seen by one another. Somewhere along the line, it became somewhat of a popularity contest.

Who’s got the best content, the coolest outfits; people looking to be adored as a sense of validation through their art rather than looking for a community and to make a difference
with it. It’s really easy to fall into that trap when you so badly want to be successful. This
song is making fun of that whole mentality.”

TUTV: Alert your ears, ’cause this kick-ass belter is a high-voltage garage-grunge
uppercut coming your way with cocksure gusto. Guitar riffage all over the place,
maniacal drumming, dirty bass lines, and in-your-face vocals combine for an
ear-splitting experience.

They should participate in a sort of American Idol contest
with their middle-fingers up and trashing the TV cameras.

THE KING Passed Away 48 Years Ago

16 August 2025

As we all know, except those who grew up on Mars (unless they had Internet),
ELVIS was one of the first real rock stars (let’s not forget other giants such as
Chuck Berry, Little Richard, Jerry Lee Lewis and Bill Haley). Utterly cool, utterly
charismatic, utterly good-looking, and an utterly great voice signing utterly
catchy tunes. Oh, almost forgot his utterly swing-and-shake pelvis.

Today, 16 August, it’s already 48 years since his untimely
death. Only 42, after a heavy roller-coaster life. R.I.P.

Elvis biographer Joel Williamson wrote later: “Perhaps involving a reaction to
the codeine and attempts to move his bowels—he experienced pain and fright
while sitting on the toilet. Alarmed, he stood up … and fell face down in the fetal
position.” Drooling on the rug and “unable to breathe, he died.”

IN ATHENS – Irish Newcomers Hit Bullseye Immediately With Debut Single ‘OR ANYTHING’

15 Augustus 2025

Band: IN ATHENS
Who: Indie newcomers from the rugged meeting point of Connemara, Galway, Ireland and the wild Atlantic. Their music is a powerful blend of fuzz-drenched post-gaze nostalgia and razor-sharp modern post-punk energy, creating an evocative soundscape that reflects the majestic beauty, raw power and shimmering tranquillity of their surroundings.

“We chose the name In Athens because it felt like an answer with weight. It references
a place where art, philosophy, music, and storytelling became formalized where culture
became something shared. But we’re far away, surrounded by sea, silence, and storm.”

FFO: Autolux, Just Mustard, Silversun Pickups and The Altered Hours

Debut single: OR ANYTHING
From their upcoming EP
titled Mirrorism.

“If nothing truly matters, doesn’t everything then matter equally?”. In this view, meaning isn’t dictated by some external cosmic order, but by individual perception and choice. This can be viewed as both nihilistic and liberating: when no single thing matters more than another by default, we’re free to assign our own value to experiences, relationships, and actions.

In a meaningless universe, the act of caring becomes a radical and deeply personal choice,
one that gives life its richness and weight. The song represents the distillation of these elements into a wonderful hypnotic groove that both feels familiar and entirely new at the same time.”

TUTV: Wicked bass, riot-gun drums and galvanic, shoegazy guitars combine for
a mind-bending intro, and introduce their instantly bone-chilling vocalist. Blimey,
way to start this fully-charged journey.

Or Anything gets under your skin without asking. Its gloomy mid-tempo
progression draws you into a nerve-racking and stratospheric wall-of-sound
vortex.

Bloodcurdling debut.

OASIS – 30 Years Ago The Mad Mancunians Released Hit Single ‘ROLL WITH IT’

Top singles from the past

14 August 2025

OASIS, the talk of the world right now, released their single
ROLL WITH IT today 30 years (time flies supersonically) ago,
on 14 August 1995.

It was the 2nd single, following their No.1 hit Some Might Say from
their 2nd, million-selling album, What’s The Story (Morning Glory).

Blur deliberately released their single Country House on the same day.
Prior to the release day, their management started a smart ‘Battle of Britpop
campaign. Blur won the contest when they immediately topped the charts,
with Oasis coming in 2nd.

The single artwork features a photograph of the band on the beach at Weston-super-Mare, UK. Many potential locations were examined along the Somerset and Avon coastline. The Mancunians were playing Glastonbury that weekend, so a location within striking distance of the festival site had to be found.

MILITARIE GUN – Los Angeles Dropouts Shoot From The Hip With New Bullet ‘GOD SAVE THE GUN’

Daily noise that works faster than a stream of caffeine

14 August 2025

Band: MILITARIE GUN
Who: Hefty Los Angeles hardcore team, who
released their debut LP Life Under The Gun.

Track: BADIDEA
Lead single from their forthcoming 2nd LP,
named God Save The Gun, out on October 17th.

Ian Shelton frontman about the album: “I’m well aware that being this vulnerable turns
my personal trauma into a marketing hook for this album. But I’m fine with it, if not provoking it.

Over the past couple years, as I spoke about addiction from the perspective of someone affected by it, I became the one struggling with it. There’s a farcical logic to entering a situation, fully knowing the consequences, and doing it anyway – but that’s where my head was when I started leaning on drinking.”

Watch out, folks, these clamorous dropouts shoot from the hip. BADIDEA is a rapid-fire bullet aiming at your stereo. Ablaze guitars, a frantic drummer, and hysterical vocals. Like a wake-up nightmare.

Fasten your seatbelts.
