THE HIVES By Numbers – Punk Wisecrackers Have New LP ‘THE HIVES FOREVER, FOREVER THE HIVES’ Out
29 August 2025
Swedish punk wisecrackers THE HIVES dropped their 7th full-length,
titled The Hives Forever, Forever The Hives today.
Kerrang says: “The Hives are like an endless circle of rock’n’roll celebration.
As with all their albums, this one dresses repeated formulas in different clothes,
cool clothes obviously, but doing enough to keep excitement levels high.
The Hives have been around a quarter of a century. So while they’re nobody’s
new favourite band now, good luck in finding an old one that’s this much fun.”
TUTV: Another Hives record, another Hives by numbers one. It will not change
my opinion on these reckless Swedish veteran punks. An exhilarative live band
(saw them several times), but a middle-of-the-road one on record, repeating
themselves over and over again. Fortunately, they have chief-comedian Pelle
to distract the fans. Without him, no fun whatsoever.
Mind you, I can compile a greatest hits album with about 15 superior tunes,
but out of 7 LPs that’s not enough for my liking. As usual, their singles are the
best tracks (except ‘Legalize Living’), and were and will be on my headphones
for a while. The Hives sometimes, sometimes The Hives.

FANCLUBWALLET – Canadian Guitar Pop Outfit Need A ‘NEW DISTRACTION’
Daily electricity to load your batteries
29 August 2025
Artist: FANCLUBWALLET
Who: Canadian guitar pop outfit led by songstress Hannah Judge
from Ottawa, Canada. They released their debut album You Have
To Be Kidding Me in 2022.
Track: NEW DISTRACTION
New piece from her upcoming 2nd LP,
named Living While Dying
Judge: ‘Cmon, I’m waiting, for some kind of new distraction’ was a mantra
circling my brain these last couple years. This song came out of nowhere for
me, though. I was too anxious to write a solo guitar lick for this but the band
encouraged me, and it became one of my favourite parts. It reminds me of
a Coldplay B-Side.”
Following the top-notch riff-rotating lead single
Cotton Mouth, this one has a feel-good tone
and a jocund vibe.
Absorb the distraction.
SUMMER OF 2025 – Today: English Guitar Pop Indies PALE WAVES Covering ‘ZOMBIE’ Last Weekend At READING/LEEDS
British indies PALE WAVES are making, eh, waves since 2014, mostly in their home country with darkwavish pop tunes. So far, they released 4 albums, with last year’s Smitten as the most recent.
Last weekend they took the stage at the Reading Leeds Festival. As many acts do at festivals, they also did a cover. Their version of The Cranberries‘s classic anthem Zombie (more than 1,5 billion streams on Spotify) is copied/pasted, but it works, so does the crowd think.
Today British Hip-Crossover-Hop Duo NOVA TWINS Unleashed ‘PARASITES & BUTTERFLIES’
29 August 2025
Band: NOVA TWINS
Who: Potent urban R&B punk two-piece,
featuring Georgia South and Amy Love, from
London.
Their 3rd longplayer, titled PARASITES & BUTTERFLIES is out today.
Press info: “The new album, is a genre-defying journey through life’s chaos and beauty, blending hip-hop, punk, rock, pop and electronic influences. Fearless and unflinching, it explores empowerment, identity, and mental health, balancing turbulence with clarity
and vulnerability with strength.
The record boasts tracks that’ll make you want to cry, laugh, dance; spanning themes of female empowerment, mental health, grief and letting loose – With focus firmly on giving back to the fans with dedicated experiences.”
Kerrang: “They’re The Shining twins of the music world, always showing up both hand in hand, and exuding an aura that’s not to be reckoned with. Their power? A divine feminine energy that they’ll never be willing to sacrifice to make others comfortable, or to tough out the hard times. Parasites & Butterflies is another trip into the Nova world, mirroring rage, fear, swagger, and
all in between.”

TUTV: Nova Twins develop a robust hip-metal-pop rowdiness that does your head
in the way you like it when you want to go apeshit for a while to process all daily shit.
They unleash their demons once again, and once started, they’re unstoppable. Hammer after hammer, drone after drone. Don’t expect world-class hits, NV are more about building a wall-of-crossover commotion which expresses and translates their inner turmoil.
The twins are about emotional exuberance and against any kind of human intolerance. They are combative butterflies chasing terrifying parasites on record and even more on stage. Yes, If you have the chance to see them live, don’t hesitate, go.
No wonder, RATM’s guitarist Tom Morello is a big fan. Some time
ago he said: “This is an incredible band who deserve to be huge.”

CAST – Britpop Vets Drop New Rad Rocker ‘WAY IT’S GOTTA BE (YEAH) Featuring Legendary Soul Voice P.P. ARNOLD
Daily noise that works faster than a stream of caffeine
28 August 2025
Britpop vets CAST were one of the support acts (along
with Richard Ashcroft) for the Oasis reunion gigs in
England/Ireland/Scotland/Wales.
They enjoyed their best years between 1992 and 2001,
with 4 LPs and several top hits with earworms such as
Alright and Walkaway.
They had a hiatus until 2010, returned, bagged 3 more albums,
and have another one canned, titled Yeah Yeah Yeah waiting to
be released on Jan 30th, 2026.
Following lead single Poison Vine
they just dropped another taster.
Amps up, heat up, and horns blowing for rad rocker WHY IT’S GOTTA BE (YEAH).

UPCHUCK – Atlanta Punks Revved Up Again On New Buzzer ‘TIRED’
Daily electricity to load your batteries

Band: UPCHUCK
Who: High-voltage punks
from Atlanta, Georgia.
They have canned their third LP. They named it I’m Nice Now (are you?).
It was produced by mister TY Segall and will show up on October 3.
Press info: Upchuck channels their feverishness into an album that,
yes, is filled with rage. But in addition to being a continuation of their
musical exorcism, the album delivers a sharp critique of the powers
that be, lamenting why they still have to be those in power.

distorted buzzer. Yeah.
