HVIRESS – Enigmatic British Synth-Pop Duo Take You An Outlandish Trip With New Single ‘I AM THE SNAKE QUEEN’

Daily electricity to load your batteries

25 August 2025

Artists: HVIRESS (pronounced ‘Heiress’)
Who: The occult, musical love child of British
songwriters/musicians Hana Piranha and Mishkin
Fitzgerald
.

Track: I AM THE SNAKE
Brand new piece from their upcoming debut album,
named Bitchhouse, which will land on October 10th.

It explores the seductive chaos of overconsumption, fast fashion, and the glittering
debris of late-stage capitalism, through a lens of ancient magic and feminine power. Propulsive and expertly crafted, the song is both sinister and self-assured.

Fitzgerald: “Hana and I came up with the concept for ‘I Am The Snake Queen’ after
a fateful night on some psychedelic mushrooms that went slightly wrong. Hana was transformed into an ancient deity and after coming out of the darkness she became
the snake queen.

After that experience, we both thought it was too good not to write a song about.
We have always seen HVIRESS as a project for mixing ancient magick with modern
trash. ‘I Am The Snake Queen’ blends those two worlds seamlessly.”

TUTV: Ready for an outlandish electro-pop trip? That’s what you’ll experience
in the upcoming, swirling 217 seconds. From the get-go layers of synths, keyed up percussion and transfixing vocals create an ominous atmosphere where reality and surreality meet and greet. You can’t, and you don’t want to resist its tantalising impact.

There’s a hard-to-nail tension in the air, all the way through.
The snake queen is hissing just around the corner. Dope stroke.

PATTI SMITH – Her Magnum Opus ‘HORSES’ Turns 50 In November

25 August 2025

On November 10, PATTI SMITH‘s debut LP,
her magnum opus HORSES turns 50.

Of course, it’ll be celebrated with an anniversary edition, featuring several previously unreleased tracks. Along with the proper album, we get her 1975 audition tape for RCA,
an alternate take on Birdland and Snowball, a non-album track.

PATTI: “Hello everyone, my record company announced the forthcoming release of the
fiftieth anniversary of Horses, my first album. In a way I feel these pre-announcements
for books, records and films are quite early. But that is how things operate and since they support and believe in my work I am showing support and gratitude by sharing their information.

I am not soliciting you ever, though of course I always hope you will read what I have written. But I am posting here, information shared and perhaps appreciated then off we go somewhere else. There are 6,500 vinyls. It’s a double album and the second was compiled after much labor.

Unearthed recordings, a couple live pieces from CBGB, youthful efforts gathering dust, little bits scavenged from half a century ago. I am grateful to all who helped form it and the people who have supported it for five decades.”

24 August 1981 – JOHN LENNON Killer Gets 20-Year Jail Sentence

24 August 2025

On 8 December 1980, the then 25-year-old Texan Mark Chapman killed John Lennon in cold blood with 5 shots in his back, at the entrance of the Dakota building in New York where John and Yoko lived.

On 24 August 1981 he was given a 20-year jail sentence. Over the next few months, Chapman would claim many times to have been beaten by fellow inmates, some of
whom allegedly tried to kill him.

More than a dozen psychologists and psychiatrists interviewed Chapman in the six months prior to his trial. They conducted a battery of standard diagnostic procedures and more than 200 hours of clinical interviews. All six defense experts concluded that Chapman was psychotic; five diagnosed paranoid schizophrenia, while the sixth felt that his symptoms were more consistent with manic depression.

Chapman is still in prison. His 14th parole hearing was
scheduled for this month. But no news about it, so far.

THUMPER – Badass Irish Rockers Drop Scorching Slam ‘THE DRIP’

Daily noise that works faster than a stream of caffeine

23 August 2025

Band: THUMPER
Who: Rowdy rockers from Ireland, who released their
debut album Delusions Of Grandeur in 2022.

Track: THE DRIP
Lead single from their upcoming
second album. Details TBA.

“The Drip is a song about tour burnout and relationship strain. The song was written almost a line at a time, small lyrics jotted down at different moments on tour, in different cities, different head spaces. The title refers to that slow accumulation, drip torture was on my mind, but also an IV drip – something that keeps you alive, hooked to your veins. In this case my deep love for making music, and the people I make it with.Best headphones deals

The song has no chorus – no release. But it’s joyous and builds with momentum with each passing section, even as the lyrics seem to become more abstract. This conflict between love for the thing, and that thing destroying you – that’s The Drip. ‘Poke to find a vein, flick the bag’.”
