ALL TOGETHER
TRACK BY TRACK
Band: McCASLIN DAHLE
Who: Duo of seasoned musicians featuring Donny McCaslin (3x Grammy nominee, bandleader on Blackstar by David Bowie) and Ryan Dahle (Limblifter, Age of Electric, Mounties).
Track: HENRY TAKES THE 5TH
First single, from their upcoming debut album MXD,
out May 22nd. Tracklist and more info right here.
“The song frames the mundane through a child’s lens where
the everyday feels enormous, heavy and extraordinary.”
TUTV: Expect a speedy, head-twisting ride, full-steam ahead from the get-go. Vocally magnetic, sonically intoxicating, and hopped-up, spiced with frenetic saxophone upsurges, adding a freaky force to this turbulent psych stormer. One spin and your ears are hooked.
Striking stroke.

Band: CHALICE SECT
Who: A darkwave project from Los Angeles, drawing from post-punk,
new wave, and dark electro while maintaining a modern electronic edge.
Track: SILENT FEVER
Press info: “An electrifying pulse carries the song with an infectious post-punk
beat. Catchy synth hooks lift the track into clubbing territory, primed for both
at-home listening or dark-lit club floors.”
TUTV: You better be in great physical shape if you want to catch up with this steaming electro speedball. Silent Fever is an adrenaline-soaked, ballistic missile messing around with your head. Creepy vocals and relentless percussion dominate this hellish darkwave motherrocker. No rest for the wicked.
Press play.
Here. Now.

Band: BRAIN LEAK
Who: Intense, all-feeling alt-rock four-piece from Manchester (UK)
fronted by Tara-Gabriella Engelhardt. They have released their debut EP,
titled Put Back Together last year.
Track: SKIN REMEMBERS
Newest single
Engelhardt: I like the fact that you can really move to it, but it retains signature
Brain Leak motifs like the slightly unpredictable structure and vulnerable storytelling.
Lyrically, it’s a mixture of me recounting a night with someone and reflecting on my
experience of being infatuated by them.”
TUTV: Your ears are immediately impressed by a fast-forward, bass-pushed groove, your mind gets confused by the Shirley Manson-like vocal tension hanging in the air, and your body starts to move in mysterious ways. Skin Remembers feels like a rush of blood to the head.
Far-out trip.

Band: GREAT HARE
Who: Seasoned DIY guitar
rockers from Sweden
Track: VOYAGER 3
TUTV: Once again, these Swedish music addicts show their knack for writing
attention-grabbing tunes that spin around in your head throughout the day.
This new bass-peppered composition has a bit of slacker rock touch, bringing
Dinosaur Jr to mind, with fewer guitar layers, but more melodic and with vocally
passionate J Mascis echoes.
Get on board.

Artists: THURSTON MOORE and BONNER KRAMER
Who: The former Sonic Youth legend and fellow underground
veteran, formerly known as just plain Kramer.
Track: INSIGHT
A Joy Division cover of a song from their debut LP, Unknown Pleasures. It’ll close the collaborative album from the duo, titled They Came Like Swallows – Seven Requiems For The Children Of Gaza, which will land on May 1st.
Moore: “Kramer had the idea to cover a Joy Division tune. It was a left turn from the improvisations we had been tracking. I clearly remember what I felt when I first heard
the original. It was a masterpiece. A stroke of pure artistic genius.”
TUTV: Moore/Kramer slow the song down a bit, stick to
Hooky‘s shadowy bass line, with smooth vocals all over it.
