Summer Of 1996 – June 25 – SCREAMING TREES Released ‘DUST’ Album 30 Years Ago Today

Every day of this summer we go back to the same summer date somewhere in history

25 June 2026

Pulse Magazine July, 1996 📸Karen Mason

Grunge legends SCREAMING TREES (1984-2000) fronted by the late great baritone
vocalist Mark Lanegan (1964-2022) released their illustrious 7th and final LP, titled
DUST on 25 June 1996, today 30 years ago.

Kerrang Magazine selected Dust as the best album of 1996. The band toured behind
Dust for nearly two years with former Kyuss and future Queens of the Stone Age frontman
JOSH HOMME serving as a touring guitarist.

UNCUT Magazine said in retrospect: “It sounded – and still sounds – like the perfect evolution of grunge, consciously realigning that upstart music with the classic rock and psychedelia which had preceded it.”

CHELSEA WOLFE – Goth Shero Stuns With New Slow Burning Torch Song ‘DEATH IS NOT THE END’

Tunes that work faster than a stream of caffeine

25 June 2026

Photo Magdalena Wosinska

Californian Goth shero CHELSEA WOLFE has a new album canned, her
8th, following 2024 LP She Reaches Out To She Reaches Out To See.

No details thus far, but yet two appetizers with The Dark and my preffered one
DEATH IS NO THE END. It all starts, yes, acoustically, and proceeds inch by inch
to a foredoomed climax. Goosebumps.

Wake up, people, get
ready for the afterlife.

And it all happens in the dark.

MAN/CHAINSAW/WOMAN Believe The New British Post Punk Hype And Hear Their 4 Singles

25 June 2026

Credit M/W/C

Band: MAN/WOMAN/CHAINSAW
Who: Unadulterated indies
from London, UK.

On August 10th, they will unleash their long-awaited debut
full-length, called Cannonball. Tracklist and order info here

Press info: “Grand and exuberant, rich with unconventional structures and world-beating choruses, the long-awaited record makes good on the band’s years of hard touring while unearthing new dimensions and unlikely facets in their songwriting; It is a sharp, smart first record, one which presents Man/Woman/Chainsaw exactly as they are right now.”

NME: “Their debut album is an exploratory, widescreen record that significantly levels
up the south London six-piece’s early material, expanding the runaway art-rock chaos that landed them in last year’s NME 100 into something no less intriguing but significantly more pop.”

TUTV: My ears believe the hype.

Newest single.

Amazing Artwork – Cover Of Upcoming EP From Notorious Techno Punk Duo FROST CHILDREN

25 June 2026

Band: FROST CHILDREN
Who: Ear-splitting EBM siblings Angel and Lulu Prost
from St. Louis, Missouri with no less than 6 LPs under
their belt.

On July 10th they have a new EP out, called TWEAKER POEM.

“Tweaker Poem is an ode to psychotic obsession and transcendent admiration for an Idol,
when love letters start to sound more tweaky and oddly spiteful than loving. The tracks are hymns for Lovers who hypnotize themselves with faith when the world seems to frown and frown and frown at them.”

Be careful Lulu, don’t chainsaw yourself.

Ahead of the EP’s arrival, we can go bananas to
this shrapnel bomb taster, named SATELLITES.

PJ HARVEY Floats In Space With Brand New Starry-Eyed Song ‘VOYAGER’

Daily electricity to load your batteries

24 June 2026

For nearly 4 decades, 56-year-old PJ HARVEY was/is one of the most intruiging
artists in pop/rock. Her 10 longplayers (so far) are unquestionable proof of that.

She just shared her first new music since
her 2023 LP I Inside The Old Year Dying.

It’s a slow-progressing, illusive, and starry-eyed song
named VOYAGER and will be available on 7″ vinyl.
Pre-order info here.

Single artwork

PJ: “The song had already started life as part of my work towards my new album, so when @profbriancox invited me to write a piece for his new show, I sent him the voice memo of this song to see if it resonated. It immediately made him think of the Voyager craft and the sound
of its signal being sent back to Earth.

I have long been fascinated by the spacecraft and its journey, and asked myself what
it might say to us if it could? This was an inspiring route to take to develop the song.”

To the stars with PJH.

Summer Of 1999 – June 24 ERIC CLAPTON Sells 100 Guitars

Every day of this summer we go back to the same summer date somewhere in history

24 June 2026

On 24 June 1999, guitar hero ERIC CLAPTON put no less than 100 of his guitars
up for auction at Christie’s in New York City to raise money for his drug rehab clinic,
the Crossroads Centre in Antigua in the Lesser Antilles.

His 1956 Fender Stratocaster named Brownie, which was used to record the electric
version of Layla, sold for a record $497,500. The auction helped raise nearly $5 million
for the clinic.

No, Eric, no more cocaine.

New Singles – YARD ACT – EDITORS – BAD NERVES – BODEGA – LOCUST

24 June 2026

Credit: YA

Band: YARD ACT
Who: British post-punk outfit from Leeds, fronted by poetic wordsmith
James Smith, who catapulted themselves to the top of indie world with
their first 2 longplayers.

Track: NEW BEGINNINGS 2nd shared cut from their upcoming,
3rd full-length, baptized You’re Gonna Need A Little Music.

TUTV: Beginnings is both a lazy and boogielicious
stimulus that bursts open when eager guitars rev up.

Band: EDITORS
Who: Far-famed rockers
from Birmingham, UK.

Single: THE RUSH
2nd rollout, following Call It In, from their 8th LP,
titled Surface, Echo & Sound. Out October 30th.
Pre-order info here

TUTV: Their chilling post-punk debut LP The Dark Room, from 2005, is still the one for me. Afterward Editors went down risk-free pop lane. Mind you, they got my attention now and then again, like here with this new urgent tune.

Band: BAD NERVES
Who: London‘s razor-blade sharp punks shot themselves to
the premier league of indie hullabaloo with their first 2 LPs.

Track: NETWORK
No signs of a new album, yet.

TUTV: OMG! Bad Nerves have you in a headlock from the first crushing chord.
No way to escape. You’re in the middle of a punk tornado, and in the end, you’ll
be completely exhausted. OMG!

Band: BODEGA
Who: Zesty indie-dance
rock team from NYC.

Single: ALL INSIDE AQUARIUM
2nd taster and title track, following Pick Up The Check
from their upcoming 5th LP. Out October 9th.

Ben Hozie (singer/guitarist), who says to be inspired by Jane’s Addiction and The Stone
Roses
about the album: “Let’s go back to melodic tunes, let’s be more of a proper rock band. We were aiming at something larger, warmer, watery, and metaphysical, inspired by the optimistic alt rock of our half-remembered youth.”

TUTV: Bodega never reached the topmost level I expected them to reach after their thumping first LP. And as they are now moving towards the middle-of-the-indie-road
rock I wonder if it will ever happen. All Inside The Aquarium has a rumbustious na-na-na
buzz but isn’t the memorable cut I hoped for.

Artist: LOCUST
Who: The logtime project of London-based electro pop veteran
Mark Van Hoen, who also released records as Autocreation.

Single: SOUL SKY
Following Long Distance Lover, the 2nd new piece from his
forthcoming full-length Spectral+, slated for release on Sept 11.

It features rapper Griff Spex and multimedia artist Olive Kimoto.

“I used a couple of the same synths that I’ve still got since the early 90’s.
The beat was made on the sampler I used on my album Truth Is Born of
Arguments from 1995. It was my first time working directly with a rapper,
I’m very happy it was Griff!”

TUTV: Yeah. What’s up, bro? Slow-mo pelvis-swaying time it is. Yeah.
