but I think that Oasis are a simplification of The La’s. There
was a purity to singer Lee Mavers’ songs and the whole attitude
of that. Oasis is more ruthless, and undoubtedly effective, so
I’m not gonna knock it.“

Eh, Elvis, the La’s released only 1 album, their eponymous one in 1990, with
5 great songs on it, including the timeless masterstroke, There She Goes. Not
much material to compare with Oasis‘ series of pure, massive anthems, right
Elvis?

Singer-songwriter Lee Mavers, unfortunately, left the music scene after that
one LP, but it gave him a lost star status that doesn’t match what he did IMO.
But, well, we will never know if he had more to offer than what he did.

THE KILLERS’ Frontman BRANDON FLOWERS About His Heroes NEW ORDER

“We met New Order for the first time at the NME Awards
in 2005. We were starstruck. And then I was in the bathroom,
I was at the urinal and their singer Bernard Sumner steps up
next to me and he started singing our song ‘Somebody Told Me’ in my ear. I was 23, it was surreal. That’s so out of this world to have that happen. It was incredible.”

The Killers actually got their name from a fictional band called The Killers, with their
name emblazoned on the drum kit in the video clip of New Order‘s song Chrystal from 2001. When a young Brandon Flowers saw the clip, he decided to baptize his new band The Killers.

He’s like The Beatles to me and I mean that in every way.
At times instead of singing in a whiney accent he’s sort of
just lying out the facts in a monotome whisper. I always gravitated towards that type of performance. It’s almost
a little bit apathetic sounding, and I love that. If someone doesn’t like his music, I actually feel like I’m not going to
agree with them about anything.
