SPRINTS – Heated Irish Turbine Cover KATHLEEN HANNA’s Punk Pop Trio LE TIGRE On Their Way To AMERICA

28 January 2026

Heated Irish punk rock turbine released their
smashing 2nd LP titled All That Is Over.

They’re going mental now on tour.

America is the next stop, starting this Thursday in the horribly
ICE attacked Minneapolis. For the occasion they covered a song
by bikini kill shero Katleen Hanna‘s trio Le Tigre (1998-2007).

They picked the awesome single DECEPTACON (more than 386 million
streams on Spotify) from Le Tigre’s self-titled debut LP and gave it their
boiling treatment.

Karla Chubb (singer/guitarist): “”I’m not sure there’s a woman in the world who plays guitar that hasn’t been inspired by Kathleen Hanna. ‘Deceptacon’ is a dance-punk classic, a constant in the tour van, and a cover we used to throw into festival sets for fun. What better way to mark our return to the States and honour our love of US punk than to release our little rendition of ‘Deceptacon.'”

British pop titans PULP returned this year with their 8th LP
baptized More, their 1st in 24 years (lazy common people).

Now they have shared an almost full spoken-word version – frontman
Jarvis Cocker sounds somehow scary – of Johnny Cash‘s 2002 title track
THE MAN’S COMES AROUND, from his American IV: The Man Comes
Around
album.

It was especially recorded for British TV drama series The Hack,
which documents the 2011 phone hacking scandal that led to
the closing of the gutter newspaper The News of the World.

Irish Folk Stars LANKUM Cover THE SPECIALS’ Classic ‘GHOST TOWN’ – Totally Spellbinding

4 November 2025

Band: LANKUM
Who: Indie folk pop vets from
Ireland. So far they released 4 LPs.

They have a new single out (only digitally at the moment). It’s a cover of
THE SPECIALS‘ 1981 stroke of genius GHOST TOWN (more than 88 millions
streams on Spotify. An unique song I never thought could be covered
properly.

But Lankum does a brilliant job. They slowed it down, really in slow-mo,
except for the bombastic finale, and their diversity of folk instruments
give the song a completely different resonance. They turned it into a
spellbinding chant lasting for 8+ minutes. As gloomy than the original.

The single will be released on 12″ vinyl in January. More info here.

The accompanying video is terrific too.
