TUTV: Ominous tension hangs all over this feverish and foreboding psych jam incited
by angstful guitars. A sign of the times. Welcome To The Sharktank isn’t a song about the birds and the bees, it’s about today, about 2025 and the uncertain future. Anxious vocals amplify the inauspiciousness in the air and get out of control in the end. Scary reality as
we know it.

Who: Introspective folk project of Belgian singer-songwriter Simon Reyners, assisted by creative partner Jeroen Huyzentruyt. He’s inspired by Bon Iver, Adrianne Lenker (Big Chief), Billie Marten, Nick Drake en Joni Mitchell.

by Liam Gallagher‘s son Gene.

Their debut single.

NME says: “It’s a blast of late Nirvana grunge
where lo-fi grit meets arena-destroying swagger.

Gallagher: “It’s just all heavy guitars. That’s my favourite tone of any song: just really chuggy chords and really fucking distorted. All my favourite songs are like that – very punk rock. It’s just an aggressive song. I want it to sound like having a freakout. The lyrics are anxious as fuck.”

TUTV: I don’t know if Gene‘s dad is a grunge fan (as if Gene would care, he’s a damn Gallagher). Hinge echoes early Nirvana (debut album ‘Bleach‘). It has a raw and rough
indie edge. Nothing more, nothing less. It’s cool that Gene doesn’t copy/paste Oasis.
We’ll see/hear what their future will sound like.

TUTV: Wicked bass, riot-gun drums and galvanic, shoegazy guitars combine for
a mind-bending intro, and introduce their instantly bone-chilling vocalist. Blimey,
way to start this fully-charged journey.

Or Anything gets under your skin without asking. Its gloomy mid-tempo
progression draws you into a nerve-racking and stratospheric wall-of-sound
vortex.

Legendary proto-punks THE WHO released their debut single I CAN’T EXPLAIN
(more than 32 million streams on Spotify) 60 years ago today, on 15 January 1965.
Actually, it was their first single as The Who after they dropped their first band name
The Detours.

Pete Townshend wrote it when he was 18. Jimmy Page played rhythm guitar
as a session musician but his contribution didn’t make the final version. The
Ivy League did the backing vocals. It reached #8 in the UK and flopped in
the States at #93.

“Shreds is a song for anyone who feel intimidated by social situations to an extent they don’t say what they mean. We believe in expressing ourselves in a raw & unfiltered way which can sometimes backfire but enables us to speak from the heart. As a band, although we feel our songs can have a deeper meaning, we like to describe said songs in just a few words, being direct while refusing to be polite & quiet about the issues we face”.

TUTV: Now this is a towering debut. Fervid emotions flame up all the way through this exuberant cryout. At its core it’s a powerhouse pop song hijacked by fierce guitars and relentless drum/bass explosiveness.
