The late great TINA TURNER who passed away last year, aged 83, played an open-air show at the Maracanã Stadium in Rio De Janeiro on this day in 1988. She performed for a massive crowd of 182,000 people. The largest audience ever for a single artist.

BIG THIEF – Live In Belgium August 2024

Posted on by JL

12 January 2024

Just got my ticket for indie Brooklyn folk band BIG THIEF, fronted by the ravishing Adrianne Lenker. They play in Antwerp, Belgium on 14 August. To get in an early
dreamy mood I’m listening right now to their compelling 2022 LP Dragon New
Warm Mountain I Believe in You.

I hope (I’m pretty sure) these two heart-rending songs will be on the setlist.

THE CURE’s Maestro ROBERT SMITH Not Only In Love On Fridays

Posted on by JL

(Short) footage appeared on the internet, posted by a great The Cure fan, named
Frank Padilla showing Robert Smith singing for his wife of 35 years (married in 1988)
Mary Poole, who was watching from the side, during Plainsong (the opener of 1989
LP Desintegration/.

It happened during the band’s concert at the
Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles on 24 May,
a Wednesday. Lovely.

Watch the beautiful moment.
