TRACK BY TRACK
Band: ALPINE SKIES
Who: Irish guitar-synth-pop duo who got together in
2019 with a shared love of 80s synth-driven post-punk.
Track: BLOCKKS
3rd single of the year.
“Even though clarity and purpose provide an enlightenment in life, societal structures that govern will always serve to hinder from complete utopia; ‘and you’ll be denied’. The song’s
main theme centres on that feeling of being at odds with the modern world, while seeking
to find justice, clarity and purpose. Abandoning any hyper-consumerism nature of the world,
for a more valuable people and relationships focused happiness”.
TUTV: Blockks grows and grows in enlivening intensity along its frisky course. Think U2’s rhapsodic eagerness. And is that The Edge on guitar? This is pure pop delight. The repeat button was invented for vivifying tunes like this. Magnifico. Unlike Bono you may find what you are looking for.

Band: LONELY LITTLE KITSCH
Who: Two-piece alt-rock band from Niagara, Canada featuring vocalist Kristen Goetz
and guitarist Nolan Jodes. They create their own brand of alternative music that wasn’t defined by current trends or labels. The result is 100% unabashed, authentic LLK,
no trying to fit into a specific genre or sound.
Track: PUNCTURE WOUNDS
Goetz: “It’s a song about dissociating, and wanting to feel numb. When something
is too painful or your emotions are overwhelming, you’d rather just shut down and
feel nothing at all.”
TUTV: No time to relax here. Glowing shoegazy guitar waves hit your stereo from
the kick-off and never lose their galvanic grip on your aural attention. At the core
of this sonic whirlwind, there’s a poppy melody finding its own way, with the help
of Goetz‘s psyched vocals, in the sky-reaching wall of sound. Buzzing crackerjack.

Band: MUCKSAVAGE
Who: A manic, melancholy collective from Belfast, Northern Ireland,
spewing out bedroom-bop rock anthems that make you want to
dance and cry since 2022.
Track: LETDOWN
James Foy (frontman): “It’s about Regret of past actions, past relationships,
your past-self and the time you’ve lost, and also regret for a future you could
have had.”
TUTV: Ecstatic guitars dominate this rollicking-riff rollercoaster from start to
finish. Echoes of adrenaline rockers such as Sum 41 and Good Charlotte jump
to mind. Letdown doesn’t let you down whatsoever. Its afire dynamism will
boost your day. Jeepers.

——————————————————————————————————————————-
Band: REDUCTION IN FORCE
Who: The musical project of San Diego based singer-songwriter Mike Mills.
Rooted in the groundbreaking post-punk and New Wave movements of the
early ’80s, RiF blends anthemic alt-rock with synth-driven urgency and a
post-punk guitar edge.
Track: WORLD FULL OF ECHOES
Mills: “Humans must be at the center of artistic expression or there is no art. Full stop.
This IS the crux of art. The belief that there is a demand for fictitious replacements to expound upon the human condition is consistent with ‘optimization above all’ thinking. It’s more than misguided, it fails to understand that human emotion is the product.”
TUTV: The bombastic Gothwavish power of Bauhaus icon Peter Murphy‘s solo work instantly comes to mind. Its similar blood-and-thunder explosiveness and resistless
pizzazz at work here will dumbfound you.
Instagram – Spotify
——————————————————————————————————————————-
Band: MAVERIX
Who: Insane punk trio
from Italy.
They have released their debut
album Cowpunk! in 2023.
Track: I HATE YOU ALL
It’s a raw and ironic outburst
against conformity and social
façades.
TUTV: If you want to catch up with this head-twisting barnstormer, you’ll need
a pair of rollerskates. This mind-crushing sucker-punch shows no mercy. Think
Blink-182 and Offspring jumping at each other’s throats with all the fast and
furious forcefulness they’re famous for. Hallelujah!

from Brighton, UK
Track: DON ENZO MAGIC SALESMAN
One of two brand-new songs – the other one is called

As fans (like me) know, Ditz operate in
a very dark place where surreality rules.

Band: THE CHURCH
Who: Psychedelic rock vets
from Sydney, Australia.
Track: SACRED ECHOES (Part Two)
Steve Kilbey (frontman): “Bleak and yet beautiful. It is unlike any previous Church song
ever with its almost orchestral climaxes and its sombre mood. The lyrics and voice are the weariness at the point where hope and hopelessness merge. The music is by turns delicate
and sparse turning into a churning monstrous racket. Intense, forlorn and exultant!”
Entrancing.
Enthralling.
Enchanting.

Band: T R Y S T E
Who: Dark-gaze duo
from Ireland.
When it comes to writing, the pair prefer to write in isolation of each other, spending time carefully crafting the song and allowing it to present itself before demoing and sharing it. From this point onwards the process becomes entirely collaborative. The result is a sound that far exceeds the sum of its parts. ‘Vessel’ is just one example of the pair’s songwriting prowess.
Track: VESSEL
TUTV: When I heard this shoegazing odyssey for the first time The Verve‘s song Storm
In Heaven. popped in my mind. Not that it resonates similarly, but it evokes the same intensity, and the same hallucinatory impact. Vessel’s first part is like leaving Earth on
a wolly cloud, carefree and away from the busy reality.
But upon arrival, you get blown away by a mind-blowing storm of
My Bloody Valentine guitars until the epic climax. Breathtaking.

Track: ROOM OF WHISPERS
Newest piece from their upcoming 3rd album,
titled Un’altra Forma. It lands on 28 November.

5 minutes. Anyway, enjoy the ride.

Artist: ALEX LITTLE
Who: Vancouver-born songwriter, raised by her musical parents on
The Replacements, Bowie, The Beatles and Iggy Pop. Talking about the
right education.
Alex first took her place behind the kit in high-school band rooms and early punk groups, later stepping forward as a singer while keeping a drummer’s instinct for dynamics. She co-founded Alex Little and the Suspicious Minds who released an album in 2021. Now it’s solo time.
Track: SOUNDS LIKE A DEAL
Single from her upcoming debut EP, titled Spider In The Sinks.
It will be out on November 19th.
TUTV: If you like brisk power pop tunes that dance in your head the whole day long,
then this is the real deal. Keywords: jaunty, frisky and pizzazy. Put your headphones,
go out, and hop from left to right, up and down, in the street. Fun guaranteed.

Band: PRESENT NATURE
Who: Alt-indie songwriting
newcomers from Leeds, UK.
Track: COLUMBA
Jonny Woolnough (songwriter): “It’s a character appropriation offering a lens
into a couple’s day-to-day existence. A protagonist veering off the track is reminded
of his immaterial fortune. It celebrates life, existence, and endless possibility. Columba
is a church on the main road arriving into Headingley, Leeds where the song is set.”
De-stressing fuel for daydreamers.

Artist: JANE INC.
Who: Toronto-based
songstress.
Track: WHAT IF
Piece from her upcoming 3rd full-length, called
A Rupture A Canyon A Birth, out October 17th.
The song is inspired by the moment that a semi truck plowed into their broken-down tour van. Nobody in the Jane Inc. touring party was hurt in that accident, and they even played their scheduled show later that night. But everyone could’ve easily been killed, and that kind of near-death experience will do something to you. That’s the key to what if.
TUTV: Bumping EBM thrumming, shimmering synths, trippy piano touches,
