FRANZ FERDINAND – ‘Take Me Out’ – T IN THE PARK, 2014
Scream along, jump along and sweat along with Scotland’s darlings FRANZ FERDINAND playing a euphoric get-together version of their first big hit TAKE ME OUT in their home country at T IN THE PARK in 2014 …
Centipede musician TY SEGALL just released his umpteenth new album FREEDOM’S GOBLIN. A blast of a record with more massive hooks than ever. Yesterday the hardest working man in showbiz performed live on the Jimmy KimmelTV show. Here is his towering cover of Hot Chocolate’s song EVERY1’S A WINNER (also on the LP). A mighty drone energized heavily by a king-sized Segall guitar solo…
Last Tuesday one of the most genuine, most honest and most flamboyant rock gangs on
this troubled planet played Belgium again. Yes, BLACK REBEL MOTORCYCLE CLUB came
to play new album ‘Wrong Creatures’ and more in Antwerp. I had my ticket from the day
the concert was announced. But due to an endless, massive traffic jam – a truck lost his dangerous freight on the highway – I didn’t even arrived in Antwerp. From the moment
I realized I couldn’t be in time at all for the show I returned utterly disappointed back home. As I’ve seen B.R.M.C several times before I knew what I missed. Bloody bad luck,
for me and many other fans who experienced the same shit. To comfort us all here’s
their first ever big knockout from 2001 performed live in Austin, Texas in 2013…

Texan psychedelic collective THE BLACK ANGELS released this year – to my ears – their best album so far. DEATH SONG (named after a song on The Velvet Underground’s 1967 debut LP). is a gloomy work dealing with today’s bleak times wrapped in an ardent and invigorating soundtrack. Here’s one of the highlights performed intimately in the tiny Paste Studios in New York City earlier this year. Pretty cool…
FILTHY FRIENDS is a fantabulous supergroup featuring Sleater-Kinney’s fervent vox Corin Tucker and R.E.M.’s Peter Buck as the most famous members. Last summer they released their blustery debut album ‘Invitation’ filled with fired-up punk rock energy. Here’s one of the rowdy ones ‘THE ARRIVAL’, performed for Radio KEXP in Seattle. Here we go, turn up the heat…
To celebrate John Martin Maher aka Johnny Marr‘s 54 birthday – born 31 October 1963 – here’s a dazzling 2013 live version of HOW SOON IS NOW performed at the KRCW Studios in Los Angeles. The ex-Smith shows what a legendary guitar hero is all about…
