WIDOWSPEAK Offer Vivifying Dream Pop ‘ROSES’

6 June 2026

Band: WIDOWSPEAK
Who: Vivifying dream pop friends from Brooklyn, NY.
Guitarist and vocalist Molly Hamilton and guitarist
Robert Earl Thomas.

Album: ROSES
Their 7th.

Press info: “An record called Roses would be concerned with romantic gestures.
Across the ten tracks, intimate spaces and stages of love are captured with a nostalgic, vaseline-coated lens. Candles burn inside red glass as lovers get close in a leather booth.

Celebrity headshots gaze down like angels in a restaurant. Elsewhere, carnations are pressed in a black book and dancers pull each other close. Widowspeak is a band that
riffs on big emotions without being too self-serious. The sweetness, even silliness, of an extended limerent phase that becomes as all-consuming as a pulpy trade paperback.

Cars and their drivers serve as a way to talk about codependency. If music can simultaneously be naturalistic and noir, saturated and lush, that is Widowspeak.
They’re a band that knowshow to set a scene.”

Far Out Magazine says: “Conjuring dreamy, folksy nuggets from life’s unassuming
corners, Widowspeak herald a charming return, delicately rippling with slowcore
ambience and a touching songcraft that carries Roses a respectable distance.”

TUTV: OMG, I’m lazy today. If I say that this record sounds like Mazzy Star backed
by Neil Young on acoustic and electric guitar I guess you know what to expect.

EMPTY HEAD – Belgian Titanic Tunes Rockers Nail It Big Time With Smashing Debut Album ‘FREAK SHOW’

5 June 2026

Album artwork

Band: EMPTY HEAD

Who: Hefty Belgian noise-rock outfit, formed in 2020 in Liege, Belgium.
They produce an explosive mix of punk energy, raging guitar riffs and
infectious melodies, fully formed and bristling with a wiry tension.

Album: FREAK SHOW
Their debut.

Photo: Vincent Press

TUTV: If your hungry ears go bonkers on muscular noiz rock they will
definitely (not maybe) gonna tremble and shake when this freak show
hits them with fiery force.

Empty Head produce riff-roasting racket with a merciless tsunami of titanic tunes,
brutally melodic at its core, that challenge the flexibility of the Richter scale when
all sledgehammers’ Herculean choruses kick in.

All their banging belters are revved up by chainsaw riffs and explosive drum/bass fuel, while the maniacal vocalist – 4 lungs and iron pipes – brings tons of kickass gusto and sinewy ardency to the table. These motherrockers are going places. They groove and
move like hell, without looking back, and so should you. Don’t forget to fasten your seatbelt.

Smahing debut.

Hey, It It Anita, Ronker, and Sons, watch your backs. Empty Head are coming fast, real fast, like a comet out of control. First Belgium, and then, as cokehead Tony Montana sneers in Scarface, “the world, chico, and everything in it“. Comprendido, all you punked-up music junkies out there? You better you bet.

Singles.

PUSSY RIOT Unleash Debut Album ‘CYKA’ On June 12th – Info & Two Bloodthirsty Singles Right Here

3 June 2026

You can’t shut up the imperishable Russian collective of political and feminist activists PUSSY RIOT and their global fanbase. This year marks their 15th year of opposition against the Kremlin tyranny.

A couple of weeks ago, the clamorous PRs showed up at the Venice Biennale, the so-called “Olympics of the art world”, timed deliberately, to coincide with Russia‘s controversial return to the event. The stunt made headlines globally.

Mastermind and driving force since day one is NADYA TOLOKONNIK, who spent two years, along with fellow pussy riotiours Yekaterina Samutsevich and Maria Alyokhina, in a
Russian jail for hooliganism motivated by religious hatred after her protest performance
in the Cathedral of Christ the Saviour church in 2012.

Thus far, they have expressed their fierce discontent through several mixtapes,
a series of barbed-wire singles, and countless live protests in their home country,
Ukraine, and the Western world.

And on June 12th, the debut album, titled CYKA, will be unleashed.

Album artwork

Ahead of it, you can start screaming and shouting
in the streets to these 2 bloodthirsty singles.

– DISOBEY –

Nadya: “I wanted to do a classic punk song, in old school Pussy Riot style. I’ve been trying to be polite, writing letters via the Council of Europe, writing directly to the board, to the president, to people in the art world, and dead ends everywhere.

– CANDY DOPAMINE –

“This song is kind of a love & hate song to prescription and designer drug culture.
It started with my dependence on anti depressants, but it’s also looking at everyone
now mentalhealthmaxxing and looksmaxxing via pills and injections.

It’s not a judgement, it’s just an observation and my personal experience with
these things is that I have to be in a long term relationship with them for my
PTSD and depression.”

New Albums: ICEAGE – BOARDS OF CANADA – SPARTA

2 June 2026

Album artwork

Band: ICEAGE
Who: Glamorous Danish indie outfit fronted by
charismatic frontman Elias Bender Rønnenfelt.

Album: FOR LOVE OF GRACE & THE HEREAFTER
Their 6th.

Paste Magazine (US) writes: “It recalls the kinetic energy of their first two records but possesses the sophistication of their more recent output. Equal parts jangly and muscular,
the five-piece forge a new path while staying true to their roots.”

TUTV: The Danish indie heroes return with sonic panacherie and a sense of urgency, rockier and punkier than on predecessor Seek Shelter (still my fav one). Rønnenfelt is omnipresent, although obviously in a feverish place of his own, torn from reality at
times. Iceage fans will have their time of the year.

HIGHLIGHTS: Ember / The Weak / Salve For Every Sore / Mother-Of-Pearl / Lifetime

Band: BOARDS OF CANADA
Who: Scottish electro vets, Mike Sandison and Marcus Eoin, twisting
buttons since 1986. After several EPs they released their debut LP
in 1998.

Album: INFERNO
Their 5th, and first in 13 years.

The Guardian (English newspaper): “The Scottish electronic duo remain hugely influential – but their new album’s interrogation of religion is dubious, and the drum programming is worse still.”

BOC press

TUTV: After a fine atmospheric/cinematic, and panoramic start, repetition starts
to creep in, and my attention weakened. With its 79-minute length, the record is
way too long. Sure, there are some appealing pieces here and there, but overall,
the defective balance gets in the way too much.

Band: SPARTA
Who: Veteran rockers from El Paso, Texas (2001–2008, 2011–2013, 2017–present).
Founding members Paul Hinojos and Tony Hajjar played also with At The Drive-In (Hajjar still does now and then).

Album: CUT A SILHOUETTE
Their 6th.

Kerrang says: “This new album finds mainman Jim Ward playing to his strengths, with a clutch of concise tunes that contains a few real gems. It’s an album which traces the outline of Sparta’s identity with satisfying clarity. Echoes of revered influences and peers, from Fugazi and Jawbox to AFI and Jimmy Eat World, swing by. Sixth time’s a charm, it turns out.”

📸: @visualritual

TUTV: The Texan vets don’t waste time. From the word go their energy punches holes
in the ceiling. They run and sweat like young dogs. Their post-hardcore-rock-punk engines still burn fierily. But to avoid going over the top they slow down now and then with trenchant and expressive ballads (See You Soon, Midnights and Glimmer). Rock on!

NEIL YOUNG & THE CHROME HEARTS – New Live Album ‘AS TIME EXPLODES’ Out Now

1 June 2026

Last April rock icon and political/environmental activist NEIL YOUNG released
a press statement, saying that a 2nd LP with The Chrome Hearts is in the making.

He revealed that 3 of the songs were written more than 60 years ago.

Young: “It’s quite a special album to me. Music is a gift and when it comes
like this I really feel it. Everything here feels so good. I hope you will agree.”

He went on to say that the album includes five news song, noting they
recorded four on day one in the studio, and the fifth on day two.

“We were then out of songs. We needed more. The next morning I had
a song going through my head and was playing it. I checked it out in the
archives and found it was from 1963, unreleased.

“There were three more. I found the three others with it, also
unreleased. Three 60 year old songs and five brand new ones!”

That’s all we know at this point. Release date and the LP’s title will follow.

Ahead of it we get a new live album, recorded on
last year’s Love Earth Tour with the Chrome Hearts.

AS TIME EXPLODES is a 13-track record. It features one song (Silver Eagle) from Young
and the band’s swell 2025 LP Talkin’ To The Trees, 11 tracks are taken from Young’s substantial catalogue, including Harvest Moon, Ohio, Vampire Blues, After the Gold Rush, Cortez the Killer and others and it also features a live version of his new anti-Trump track, called Big Crime (that came out last September).

AllMusic says: “The character of the Chrome Hearts, the emphasis of the organ
and keys, the drawn-out interplay between the guitars, the thoughtful and generous communication between the players, makes even these well-worn tunes sound new. “

TUTV: Neil Young has released more live albums than some big name artists’ have
studio LPs. A Young live record is like an old friend who comes, now and then, to visit
you to exchange old and new stories. It’s always a welcome pleasure. Cozy and matey, never boring. A special bond with a special friend you never want to lose.

PAUL MCCARTNEY – Yesterday’s Memories For Today’s Entertainment With His 19th Solo LP ‘THE BOYS OF DUNGEON LANE’

30 May 2026

Imperishable melody genius PAUL MCCARTNEY (83 now) and, arguably, the best pop songwriter ever, released his 19th solo LP, baptized THE BOYS OF DUNGEON LANE.

Press info: “The new album is a collection of rare and revealing glimpses into memories never-before shared, along with some newly inspired love songs, from one of the most culturally significant figures of our time.

These extraordinary new songs find Paul writing with rare openness about his childhood
in post-war Liverpool, the resilience of his parents, and early adventures shared with George Harrison and John Lennon long before the world had ever heard of Beatlemania.”

NME says: “Pop’s twinkly eyed granddad gets nostalgic on an album that also finds him pushing forward musically. It’s a guided tour of the long and winding road. McCartney co-produced the album with 35-year-old hot-shot Andrew Watt, the pair squeezed in sessions
over a four-year period whenever the octogenarian’s hectic schedule allowed.

Against all odds, given that this album arrives some 63 years after the Beatles’ debut
‘Please Please Me’, Macca actually makes history on ‘The Boys Of Dungeon Lane’. Remarkably, the jaunty ‘Home To Us’ is his first-ever duet with Ringo Starr, who assists him in celebrating their rough-and-tumble hometown.

Despite the absence of any real bombshells, it’s a pleasure to accompany
McCartney as he gets back to where he once belonged.”

Order info here.

TUTV: Yep, I’m a Macca fan(atic). What he did with The Beatles was/is phenomenal.
His unique gift for writing simple, yet cleverly layered, and inventively orchestrated,
pop-ular tunes is truly exceptional in music history. And he did it countless times, over
and over again, in his almost 70-year (!!!) career. His oeuvre is massive.

Of course, his immensely productive/inspiring partnership with John Lennon in
the Fab Four was instrumental and monumental for their worldwide, lasting success.

Then he did some sublime stuff with his band on the run, Wings, and with his
solo debut in 1971, he started a formidable solo journey, with LPs ranging from
good to unforgettable and, yes, with a couple of stinkers in between.

And now we have #19 on our earphones. Melancholia, storytelling reflection, and
euphonically spot-on, fitting songs are all over this nostalgic, never-look-back-in-anger record. It misses some glorious moments, as there are a lot on Egypt Station
from 2018 (my all-time fav McCartney solo album).

Still, its charming, entertaining, and, again, of course, its melodic and vocal (his voice
hasn’t aged whatsoever, and shines as ever before) beatitude is far better than what
some contemporary singer-songwriters have to offer. His yesterday memories sound velvety today.

Ahead of the release, Macca gave us two 2 singles.

JESUS THE DINOSAUR – Indie Folk Friends Deliver Candid And Frank Debut Album With ‘NOTHING TO THE BRANCHES’

26 May 2026

Credit J Kimball

Band: JESUS THE DINOSAUR
Who: Boston-based indie folk team.

Debut Album: NOTHING TO THE BRANCHES

Press info: “As most of us go through life’s formative stages, there are often
two lanes of maturity and fulfillment that casually intertwine, with each helping
inform and propel the other.

One is establishing who we are as a person, while discovering a sense of identity
and comfort as our true selves; and the other is finding our community along the
way, seeking refuge and safety in those that exist, and persist, closest to us.

Those lanes converge and come to the forefront of Jesus The Dinosaur’s introspective
debut album, Nothing To The Branches, a record that acts as a portal into a different
kind of emotive headspace.”

Tommy Ng (frontman) “The statement that we are making with this album is that we’re here! The songs cover a range of things from complex relationship dynamics to gender identity to anxiety attacks. But at our core, the music we make is really more about being involved in an intimate collaborative creation process together and finding our own expressions within it.”

“Our chemistry is everything! We’ve been friends for a long time. They are my closest friends.
It allows for the process of music writing to be very intimate and vulnerable and expansive. There’s space for everyone to have their expressions, and we all want to work together and
feel seen.”

TUTV: On this debut, the band explore gender identity, relationship dynamics, anxiety,
and escapism. Musically, they embed these life-important issues in gentle, charming, candid and acoustic-euphonious reveries. Luring indie folk that triggers self-analysing daydreaming.

The ruminative balladry of Bon Iver and Bonnie ‘Prince’ Billy comes to mind. Nothing To The Branches embraces a similar heart-and-soul stirring melancholia, wrapped in introvertive reveries such as Lifetime, Not Yr Boy, I Miss My Friend and fervent tunes (Agender, Empty Space, Sweet Nothing and Looking For A Way Out). Great vocals too from Ng and guitarist Hannah Foxman on Can’t Say.

I’m sure many young people out there can relate to the covered
topics on this brave and frank debut. Kudos to Jesus The Dinosaur.

BLEACHERS – Jack Antonoff And His Band Shine On Their New Hearty Mixed Emotions Album ‘EVERYONE FOR TEN MINUTES’

22 May 2026

Workalcoholic JACK ANTONOFF and his BLEACHERS have their
new longplayer, their 5th, named Everyone For Ten Minutes out.

Antonoff: “It’s very rare that I write from the perspective of an everyone-ness. Obviously, the album is about my personal life, but when I was writing it, I was like, ‘We’ve never disagreed more. We’ve never been more torn apart.’ And yet there’s one core thing that everyone agrees on, which is: this version of modernity is trash. No one’s having a good time.”

Press photo by Alex Lockett

TUTV: It’s only recently that I found out that Antonoff is not one but an 11-time Grammy Award winner for his longtime production/songwriting work with megastars such as Taylor Swift, Lana Del Rey, and Kendrick Lamar. Well, I’m not a follower of these 3 global celebrities, so there you go.

But I do follow, and I do love his Bleachers project. And I do think that his new opus is
his/their best. Antonoff is a masterly, romantic singer-songwriter à la Beirut‘s Zach Condon, an enchanting mood-swinger à la Matt Berninger, and an absorbing human-stories teller à la Father John Misty.

Not one dull moment on Everyone For Ten Minutes. He writes/muses
about the shit times we live in, and it feels like you’re not alone comforting.

I wonder where he finds the time, aside from his hectic, main job for some of the biggest names on this planet, to write, compose, record, and then tour, alluring beauties like this hearty, mixed emotions one. Almost half of the year gone, and I’m quite sure this new Bleachers diamond will be Top-10 in my 2026 list.

THE CORAL – Out Of The Blue, Melancholic Psych-Pop Folk Vets Drop New Familiar Sounding Album ‘388’

21 May 2026

Back in 2002, Liverpool‘s psych-folk-pop-rock ramblers THE CORAL
drew instant ear-attention with their dynamite self-titled debut LP.

Over the years, they scored some other damn fine records.

And this morning, after rubbing my eyes, I found out that the Scousers put a new
full-length, their 13th, online, named 388. A press statement informed me that the LP was being released under the cover of a physical format-only distribution and quietly stocked on independent record shop shelves. There you go.

“Recorded in two weeks and inspired by Rocksteady, vocal groups of the early 60s, Ethiopiques compilations and “the highs, lows, births and deaths of the last three decades
11-tracks bring the band back to the essence of being The Coral.”

TUTV: I had a couple of listens, and it’s pure The Coral. Over the years, they got mellowier, more relaxed, more melancholic, more dreamy, and more sepia-colored. No, nothing new here. It’s all what I just said. Charming, hum-along, mid-tempo tunes for romantic sunsets.

To make the surprise complete, we can enjoy a studio-shot
video for the album’s opening track, Let The Music Play.
