3 female indies from Chicago got together in 2019, formed a band, named themselves HORSEGIRL, launched their debut album Versions Of Modern Performance, stuffed with simple, but very effective jangly pop tunes and generated lots of critical acclaim and fans with it.

Today they release their second longplayer, called PHONETICS ON AND ON.

NME says: “The Chicago band strip back the layers – sonically and lyrically – as they
continue to discover their own sound and voice… ‘Phonetics On And On’, works because
of its lack of pretensions and its back-to-basics spirit. Second time around, Horsegirl are
still recasting past greats in their own vision but finding more of themselves as they go.”

Band‘s 1977 hit 2-4-6-8 Motorway) is my 2025 Valentine’s song. I know, it’s weird, it’s whimsical, it’s comical, and that’s exactly why I like it instead of your next average,
sugary, slimy love song.

Chicago‘s indie guitar rock trio HORSEGIRL drew lots of attention when they entered the scene 5 years ago with a series of singles. A year later came their first EP, followed by their debut album Versions Of Modern Romance in 2022. Rolling Stone Magazine, Stereogum and many new fans were impressed.

Now, LP number 2, named Phonetics On And On is completed (produced
by Cate Le Bon) and ready to hit the streets on Valentine’s Day next year.

Along with the news comes lead single 2468.
