Band: FEATHER TRADE
Who: Post-punk trio (Athens, GA USA & Manchester UK) that crosses boundaries with integrity and raw, passionate honesty that’s all but vanished across the musical landscape. Their mini-anthems are rallying calls to the disenfranchised, the politically and sexually marginalized, to anyone watching in dismay as the commodification of society, and art in particular gathers pace.

New single: JUST LIKE FILM
From their upcoming debut LP.

TUTV: This is a blood-curdling, slowly progressing psych jam coming from
a dark place. The frontman’s psychotic wailing sends shivers down your spine,
the haunting progression is bone-chilling and the shadowy bass play sounds
as if Peter Hook (Joy Division/New Order) was invited to join this somber procession.

Band: THE BAKES BROTHERS
Who: Canadian newcomers
from British Colombia.

Debut single: IN WAVES

TUTV: These young wolves nail it big time with their debut stroke.
A spiraling, guitar-charged power-pop belter, going forth and back,
up and down. Made me think immediately of up-and-coming Irish
stars Inhaler. Way to go, brothers!

Band: LOST IN JAPAN
Who: Canadian pop/rock team that
released its debut album in 2018.

New single: FROM THE START

Key line “I don’t know what I’m doing, from the start I’ve been losing you” encapsulates this new song which holds varied meaning for the listener whether it rings true for a failing relationship, self-reflection on life’s trajectory, or a musician making their way in the music industry.

TUTV: Wowzers! This new punchy piece jumps up and down in your head and elevates your mood from the kick-off. It’s a contagious foot-stomper with a poppy chorus vibe inviting you to play air guitar and sing along with all the force your lungs can come up with.

Anthemic upper!

Who: A serendipitous collaboration between singer/guitarist Luigi Tiberio
and modular artist Tim Bleasdale, based in London.

TUTV: It’s back to the 80s nightclubs filled with 24-hour party people going e-static.
Pet Shop Boys and New Order synth-trip all over Too Much. I guess you don’t need more information to get up, stand up and fight for your right to dance yourself in a giddy state.

Who: Bedroom pop quartet from Hamburg, Germany.

Artist: SUMMIT OF THE BIG LOW
Who: The moniker of British musician Toby Uffindell-Phillips, who
was part of the early 00’s folktronica group Sound Sanctuary. His
songwriting and finger-picking guitar style have evolved into a
signature sound with a hazy, golden hour vibe.

New single: DUST
Cut from his forthcoming
self-titled album, out March 4.

TUTV: Dust is an affecting folk-pop reverie that streams as a brisk brook.
Sparkling, crystal clear, and glimmering in the sun. Its wistful tone, smooth
vocals and frisky finger-picking guitar play combine for a sweet little pearl.

Artist: STAHV
Who: Seattle-based singer-songwriter Solomon Arye Rosenschein who hit
the scene back in 2017 with instrumental songs. Only recently he started
to sing on his work. Seattle’s renowned radio station KEXP described his music
“as combining elements of heavy psych-rock, doom metal, post-rock, noise-rock,
and more.”

Rosenschein: “I was ready to stop pulling punches and draw on all aspects of what
I’ve done throughout my life in music—from pop to metal and more esoteric fare.”

Track: COLD CASE.
An absolute highlight of his new, electrifying,
6-track EP Simple Mercies

TUTV: Expect a metallic-riff-roaring roller with a limbs-activating impact,
Black Sabbath-like droning and Rosenschein‘ self-assured vocals giving this
steamy slam extra punch. Touchdown.

Who: Cuban-American musician living in Berlin who
played/plays in several bands and works as a solo
artist too.

New single: I REMEMBER WHAT YOU SAID

TUTV: Following last year’s excellent debut album Stand this international
songstress returns with a nightmarish memory of a poisonous relationship.
With its agitated words-flowing drive it feels like Valdés wants to wash all
the BS away and move on. Mission accomplished.

Who: Seasoned British singer-songwriter of indie band
The Wytches who’s now occupied with sharing his solo work.

Who: Alt songstress, originally from New York and
of Albanian, Irish and Greek descent.

New single: PRETEND

Zhaklina: “This song feels really vulnerable to share with the world, but
it’s been a necessary creation for my personal healing process. I hope this
song encourages you to look at your own wounds with compassion and
believe you are worthy of being true to yourself.”

TUTV: Zhaklina reflects on an experience of toxic masculintay on this
jungly resonating fast-slow bass-infused mediation. Middle finger to all
