Swedish hit machine ABBA scored their 8th number one in the UK with
THE WINNER TAKES IT ALL (more than 335 million streams on Spotify) this

I guess.

It featured on their Super Trouper LP.

The Gibb brothers were also a hit machine. On this day in 1975

An S.O.S Message – BONO And THE EDGE Cover ABBA

17 March 2023

On the BB Radio series 2 of artists playing covers in the studio’s piano-room
U2‘s main men Bono and The Edge were the latest guests. As ABBA fans
for years they picked the Swedish pop stars’ 1975 hit SOS to perform, backed
by a silent orchestra.

The Edge: “We found a Johnny Cash angle on the song.”

Here’s their intimate, acoustic version. Lovely.

Does Your Mother Know That British Glam Rock Team THE WILD THINGS Cover ABBA?

9 November 2022

Band: THE WILD THINGS
Who: British rock band fronted by lead singer Sydney Rae White, star
of the hit Netflix/BBC show Uncle and blockbuster movie American Assasin.
The band do everything themselves because they have a clear, definitive
idea of who they are.

This is how massive Swedish hit machine ABBA would have sounded if they were
a pop-punk quartet. Spiced-up, pepped-up and turned-up with crystal synth touches, battering drum/bass, vigorous guitars and lively vocals. Go tell your mother about it,
I’m sure she still is an Abba fan.

The Wild Things take it all.

ABBA Were The Number One Dancing Queens In The US 45 Years Ago Today

Great singles from the past

9 April 2022

Unexpectedly, Swedish non-stop hits machine ABBA returned
last year with Voyage, their first album in 40 years. A commercial
success, of course

But the quartet – Agnetha Fältskog, Björn Ulvaeus, Benny Andersson,
and Anni-Frid Lyngstad – enjoyed their golden years, back in the 70s
with a striking series of 24 Carat gold classics.

One of them was DANCING QUEEN. A pop diamond that topped
the US Singles Chart 45 years ago today, on 9 April 1977. It was also
a #1 in 12 other countries.

Yes, it’s cheesy, but pop-tastic too…
