Canadian luminary ALANIS MORISSSETTE (aged 51 now) returned
to the live stage this year and will do so next year (in England).

But first her take on the classic devotional AVE MARIA. The song was
originally composed by Austrian symphonist Franz Schubert in 1825,
titled Ellens Dritter Gesang.

As an ode to the Virgin Mary the song became one of the
holiday’s most storied tunes over the years and still is.

Morissette‘s version is a down-tempo version that stays true
to the classic melody, with added flair from her singular vocals.

Canadian singer/songwriter ALANIS MORISSETTE (now 51) topped the US Charts
with her 3rd album JAGGED LITTLE PILL on 7 October 1995, 30 years ago today.
It peaked at #5 in the UK.

The album went on to sell over 30 million copies worldwide and won
five Grammy Awards. It was co-written and produced by Glenn Ballard.

Los Angeles Times said: “She explores extreme emotional games.
She’s a fresh talent, somewhere between, say, Sinéad O’Connor and
Liz Phair, who’s determined to let her feelings out, whether with
a snarl or a smile.”

THANK YOU from her 4th LP Supposed Former Infatuation Junkie.

She sang it at this year’s Glastonbury Festival in June.

was born on 1 June 1974 in Ottawa, Ontario.

Happy 50!

So far she released 10 albums, with The Storm Before The Calm
as the most recent one, released in 2022. Her greatest triumph still
is her 3rd longplayer Jagged Little Pill that came out in 1995. It sold
over 30 million copies.
