Yesterday THE FLAMING LIPS, always in for something odd, released their new, 15th LP entitled KING’S MOUTH on Record Store Day for just 4.000 privileged fans with a world-wide issue to follow later in the year. In marketing terms this is called a ‘publicity stunt‘! To me it’s a pathetic way to draw lots of free attention while leaving thousands of faithful Lips fans behind with an empty feeling. To comfort them the band made one track available for streaming. You can hear the dreamy ‘ALL FOR THE LIFE OF THE CITY‘ via Consequence Of Sound right here…
