Who: Indie star rockers from Sydney, AUS led
by singer/songwriter/guitarist David Le’aupepe
Active: Since 2011 / 3rd LP coming up

New album: ANGEL IN REALTIME
Release: 25 February 2022 – order info here

Info: “The album is about the life and legacy of Dave’s father, indigenous identity, death,
grief and God. And also the Angel, Islington. Although the album is eclectic – influences range from American minimalism and contemporary classical, to drawing upon the legacy of Britain’s alternative/indie scenes, from drum ‘n’ bass to the most transcendent moments of Britpop .”
(Rough Trade)

New track: SPIRIT BOY
4th track from the forthcoming album

I thought at first it was a Bright Eyes song as frontman David Le’aupepe’s voice
resembles Conor Oberst‘s one wondrously well here. Also, Spirit Boy has that same
emotive intensity as Bright Eyes ballads. Mesmeric magnificence in motion.

A heartwhole humdinger.

New album: ANGEL IN REALTIME

Although the album is eclectic – influences range from American minimalism and contemporary classical, to drawing upon the legacy of Britain’s alternative/indie scenes, from drum ‘n’ bass to the most transcendent moments of Britpop – it’s equally rooted in Le’aupepe’s Samoan heritage, with the majority of tracks featuring samples from David Fanshawe’s recordings of indigenous music from the Polynesian islands and the wider South Pacific. ‘angel in realtime’ also features contributions from a cast of talented Pasifika and Māori vocalists and instrumentalists.” (Rough Trade)
