20 BEST TRACKS OF THE MONTH – MARCH 2025

ALL TOGETHER

TRACK BY TRACK

– 1 –

Band: PUNCHBAG

Who: A new brother-sister party duo, from South London colliding the raw unfiltered energy of punk, with the overflowing ecstasy of pop. With fierce tempos and ferocious energy, their music is an explosively cathartic release of raw intensity and unapologetic fun.

Track: I’M NOT YOUR PUNCHBAG
From their upcoming debut EP. Details TBA.
It was written before they came up with their
moniker Punchbag.

TUTV: Ecstasy. Elation. Euphoria. Exhilaration. Yes, this electro-smack makes
you bounce and jump like a pogo-stick. Two singles in and Punchbag are already
a punky EBM sensation. They kick you in the teeth without asking while having
fervent fun.

Amazeballs.

Artists: GANS

Who: 2-piece from Birmingham (UK) – Euan Woodman (drums/vocals) and Tom Rhodes (bass/vocals) – born in late 2023 over a shared love of noise, literature and late night shebeens. They write music about love and hate. They’re good for your soul.

Track: I THINK I LIKE YOU

TUTV: Warning. This insanely groovy punk blast will bulldoze all over your shocked speakers. Expect a superheated funky firestorm that attacks the Richter scale with a shattering impact. A manically jagged jackhammer it is. Trust me, you’ll think you like them, very much, while you bang your head into your fridge’s door.

Go nuts, go gaga, go gans.

Band: KLÄMP

Who: A collective with members scattered across the UK and the Netherlands. This group, now comprising seven members, has its roots in a trio that expanded over the past four years. in 2019, followed by 6-track Hate You in 2020.

New track: WET LEATHER
Piece from their upcoming, sophomore LP Total Technik,

TUTV: Kraut-rock and roll with an intoxicating impact. A wall-of-guitar-pyrotechnics rollercoaster. An overpowering tempest of rambunctious riffs. Voltaic psychedelia at
its spine-chilling best, bombarding your ears the way you like it. Fascinating, right?
You betcha.

Mind-bending.

Band: ALISON’S FALL

Who: High-voltage indies
from The Netherlands.

Track: WHAT IF

TUTV: Raucous Royal Blood riffs, hard-hammering drum beats, a mean
bass machine, gutsy vocals and a knockdown chorus combine for a jagged
jackhammer that you’ll play louder with every spin.

Steamy smack.

Band: THE LIVING PINS

Who: Flaring indie duo – Carrie Clark and Pam Peltz – who found each other on
the edge of the delicately ramshackle playground of the 1990s Austin (Texas)
music scene. They released their 4-track debut EP Let It Be So in 2023.

New single: GOLD

TUTV: Hallelujah! The pins do it again. Gold is a hip-shaking bluesy garage rock thrill
that has an instant impact on your greedy ears with its solid swagger, its gloriously cracking guitars with a feverish solo somewhere in the middle, and its cool duet vocals. Play it to your unicorn, and have a dance together.

1-2-3-4. Let’s roll.

to the Vietnam War.

Band: WORLDCUB

Who: A group from North Wales piloted by brothers Cynyr (guitar & vocals) and

the hills of Eryri, splicing together elements of surf guitar music, kraut-rock grooves

Back To The Begining.

TUTV: From the first chord on, Exploding! swirls irresistibly fueled by heated guitars,
a magnetizing, bouncy bass riff, a non-stop, repetitive and footstomping drum beat and moody vocals, that bring former Super Furry Animals‘ frontman Gruff Rhys‘ smooth voice tone to mind. Bullseye.

Detonating drill.

Marco born in Monza, brings an instinctive and meticulous approach to crafting their signature electronic sound.

Track: LAUGH
Second single following last year’s
excellent debut Faded Flowers.

The song is inspired by a true story. It tells the story of a woman who, after 30 years of domestic abuse, laughs at her husband’s funeral—not out of joy, but as an uncontrollable, cathartic release.

TUTV: Think Sharon Van Etten at her most heartfelt. Laugh is a purifying and soul-freeing rumination, invigorated with passional vocals, synth-shining orchestration and a steadfast drum beat.

Magnific accomplishment.

Band: TELL

Who: Vehement garage rockers from Boston. Last year
they released their 6-track debut EP Life In Reverse.

Track: SWEET PROXIMITY

David Wildman (guitarist/lead vocals) “I think there is a rock renaissance in progress.
This is a Margaret Thatcher-ruining-England level of trauma we’re experiencing. Trump and Musk have taken over in what was basically a (barely) legal coup, and it has ignited a wave of rage not seen in years, translating into important and meaningful music being made all over, and mostly under the radar so far. We’re proud to be part of that.”

Credit Dan Saltzman

TUTV: This guitar-frenzied riff buzzer resonates like an alarming wake-up call to counter Trump‘s Divided States Of America. The Times They Are A-Changin’ warned/sang Bob Dylan way back. And they drastically do, lately, but obviously, in the wrong direction. Tell are aware of the new blank generation, and let us know it, loud and clear, with puissant panache.

Join the riot.

Band: FRONT PAGE NEWS

Who: Group formed in Leeds (UK) by three schoolmates and a ‘drummer wanted’ poster on a lamppost. They turn rough-and-tumble, high-energy sound–injecting indie rhythms into punk sensibilities and subjects.

Track: BEHIND THE GREEN DOOR
From their kicky debut EP Stop, Drop & Roll

TUTV: Imagine The Fall fronted by Iggy Stooge. These cocky hound-dogs know all you need to know about indie (post)punk history to get up, stand up and form a band with an eager mission to kick ass. Great news, music junkies.

Don’t stop listening.

Who: London-based team,
active since 2016.

Track: MAYBE WHEN WE WERE 30
Single from their forthcoming 3rd LP
Boys These Days, out on 23rd May.

TUTV: Gloriously affecting and steadily boogielicious with musing duet vocals
all over it until sinewy guitars, slowly but surely, augment the intensity of this witty
mixed emotions tune.

Splendid piece.

Artist: PETE BRILEY
Who: English singer-songwriter.

Track: ALL MY FRIENDS ARE WASTERS

Musically, this track encapsulates the typical joy and experimentation within its composition – something for which, Pete is very much becoming renowned for.

All My Friends Are Wasters is an ode to the bohemian friends that would never
be understood by this stranger at the party. Someone who could never understand
the square pegs in round holes all trying to catch a wave – and that just makes Briley
love the people in his life all the more.

TUTV: Compelling, profound and transfixing reflection.
Subtly and emotively arranged with fetching piano play
and expressive vocals.

Absorbing effort.

the song represents the rapture and joy inherent in both love discovered
and love remembered.”

TUTV: A high-voltage charged post-Valentine burst of mawkishness.
An amplified spurt vitalized by about 100 guitars, agitated vocals and
robustious drumming. Exuberant missile. Ace.

Band: AUTOGRAMM (Seattle, Chicago and Vancouver)
Who: Synth-driven power-poppers from Seattle, Chicago
and Vancouver. So far they recorded/released 3 albums.

New track: RANDY

Being a self-described “cat band” they naturally – after some deliberation – decided
to re-record the vocals and dedicate the content of the lyrics to their drummer’s cat, Randy.

The Silo (drummer): “It’s a letter to a good friend, in need of a
little confidence push. Everyone needs an ego boost sometimes.
Even if they’re a cat.”

TUTV: Wham bam bloody wham bam. Autogramm take you on a spiralling ride
from the get-go powered with bang-on drumming, gung ho guitars, luminous
synths and speedy vocals. Look what the cat dragged in, folks.

Band: DREAMWAVE
Who: 4 indies from Bristol, UK.

New track: CLAD KINGS
Piece from their upcoming EP
‘Moon Dogs’, out April 25

It originated from a spontaneous five-minute jam between guitarist/vocalist Ben and drummer Alex, captured in a single take. What began as a simple idea soon evolved into a dense, immersive production, with the band layering what felt like thousands of overdubs. They made use of nearly every organ and guitar available in the studio, adding synths and countless harmonies before arriving at the final version.

TUTV: Clad Kings imposes with its multi guitar-synth accumulation. It feels like floating around in a hallucinative space. Psychedelic DIIV vibrations and idyllic Tame Impala vocality come to mind. Move into your unworldly bubble and enjoy.

4. ‘S o f t e r’ by VIRGINS (Belfast, Ireland)

📸 @ebony_alexander_media

S o f t e r is a psychedelic shoegaze stunner, a multi-layered symphony propelled
by about a thousand guitars, a mind-boggling bass riff, and combative drums, while Rebecca Dow‘s ghostly vocals scrape the sky. What a titanic thrill.

5. ‘High Value Male’ by PAPA JUPE’S T.C. (Cardiff, Wales)

This disco-punk sucker-punch is just perfect to start and end all (il)legal
club nights with. High Value Man is a jiving bass-insane jackhammer that
doubles your adrenaline production on the spot and triggers your hottest
body contortions.

The orgastic ‘dance with me’ chorus revs up the sultry temperature and invites you to go mental, like a kangaroo on E. London‘s boiling dancefloor wackadoos Warmduscher should take these Welshmen/woman on the road with them. Frisky fun guaranteed. Machos not allowed.

Go nuts

6. ‘Running’ by PEARL JAM (Seattle, US)

Press photo

Seattle‘s rock giants led by towering voice Eddie Vedder are back in business.
They canned their 12th longplayer, called it Dark Matter and they will share
it with the world on April 19.

Single Running sounds like if Vedder & Co
found their young razor-blade rock legs again.

Alive again

________________________________________________________________________________________________

7. ‘Lights Down Low’ by DIE SEXUAL (Los Angeles)

This dazzling electronic duo conjure their influences of EBM, techno and electropop,
their sound is an intoxicating mix of analog synthetics and seductive vocals, touching
on themes of desire and despair, domination and submission.

They have a new 3-track, titled Inservio out, with opener Lights Down Low
as my favorite. An electro booster with a tantalizing techno beat à la The Prodigy
that rotates irresistibly, non-stop.

Bang-on

9. ‘Stage Fright’ by ROYAL CASTLES (Ontario, CA)

Spring is in the air, titillating tunes are in the air, like this frisky one
that circles around a disco beat in overdrive, and has an instantaneous,
activating impact on your eager limbs.

Lively vocals and a jumpy synth chorus augment the briskness at play here.
Get up, stand up, take your blue suede shoes out of the closet and show us
your best hip moves. Shake your dancefloor fright off with this rad
head-over-heels twister.

10. ‘The Book’ by NIXER (Dublin/London)

The Book is a pithy piece from their upcoming EP, called
‘I Hit The Town And The Town Hit Me Back’ out on May 17.

The song’s theme was inspired by 1999 fictional love novel
Sputnik Sweatheart by Japanese writer Haruki Murakami.

Expect a synth-adrenalizing thrill, a head-spinning belter,
infused with whirlwind vocals and UK garage dynamics. Imagine
The Streets on acid or Yard Act pressing the accelerator.

12. ‘Oceanos Sangrientos’ by EL KINTANO Y LA VENEREA (Spain)

Great rock music has no boundaries.

No, I don’t speak/understand Spanish, but hey, there are a lot of English/American hardcore/punk bands that scream and shout in such a cacophonous way, that I have no clue whatsoever what they’re on about. Who of you understand, except the people from Iceland, what world-famous orchestral pop outfit Sigur Rós, are singing about? It’s always about the music first.

Oceans Sangrientos is a titanic psychedelic blast. Be ready for a wall-of-fuzzing-and-buzzing guitar attack. Think The Brian Jonestown Massacre turning up their amps to the max and coming up with layers of mind-blowing electricity. Blimey.

13. ‘Op-Operator’ by THE SHANG HI-LOS (Boston, US)

These Boston rockers let the good times roll. Op-Operator is a dynamite
power pop tune that gets you out of your bed, after a night on the town
and triggers your limbs to start partying all over again.

Op-op-op-op-op-operator

14. ‘Trying’ by YOKOPHONO (Finland)

Promo picture by Jan Trygg

This is how British blues rock titans Royal Blood would sound if their producer
is a fanatic post-punk fan. Trying is a riff-rough roller coaster going forth and back.

The crude combination of hammering drums, stoner rock electricity, and yearning vocals create a shocking effect that bangs on and on. Yokophono not only try, they succeed with bold brio.

15. ‘Ist Ist’ by EINSTÜRZNEDE NEUBATEN (Germany)

The German capricious bohemians, fronted by bad seed Blixa Bargeld unleash their album number 13, a double one, baptized Rampen ( Amp: Alien Pop Music) on April 5.

First single Ist Ist is a jittery piece of intoxicating
music, motorized by a Sturm und Drang bass riff.

Faszinierend.

16. ‘Wild God’ by NICK CAVE & THE BAD SEEDS (Australia)

Press photo

Nick Cave and his iconic bad seeds band have bagged album #18.
It’s called Wild God and will hit the streets on August 30.

The title track is a sublime composition. The first part is crooner Cave as we know
him, but quickly the vocal passion and goosebumps intensity goes up and from halfway on, the song turns into an orchestral masterpiece, with a zealous hallelujah choir and an opera-like majesty. Best piece they wrote in years.

Breathtaking

17. ‘Anna Madonna’ by MAX BLANSJAAR

Blansjaar is an up-and-coming 21-year-old singer-songwriter
born in Amsterdam, raised in Oxford, now based in Brooklyn.

Anna Madonna echoes Ezra Koenig and Vampire Weekend. It’s a frolicsome tune that flutterers around in your head like a happy-go-lucky butterfly. A sweet little pop gem.

They have their new album ‘Back to the Beginning’ out 17th of May.

The title track gets under your skin from the kick-off with its
bass-pulsating groove, its breezy guitar sparks, and its layered,
affecting harmonies.

.
________________________________________________________________________________________________

19. ‘This Is Nowhere’ by THE BLACK KEYS

The blues-rock tandem have their 12th LP,
titled Ohio Players ready for release on April 5th.

Single This Is Nowhere is a surprising, mid-tempo, power
pop ballad, far away from their rough trademark sound.

Catchy
Captivating

20. ‘Waiting Forn You’ by T BONE BURNETT (US)

The 76-year-old singer-songwriter/producer has recorded his 15th solo
full-length, his first in 18 (!) years. The Other Side comes out on April 19.

First single ‘Waiting For You’ is a vintage romantic, longing, bittersweet, sentimental and good old ballad. I’m a sucker for lullabies like this (certainly after a day with lots of noisy music) that calm me down and touch my heart and soul. Burnett‘s warm voice and crystal guitar play turn this song into a wonderful, timeless, and charming musing. A universal love song.

No Rules (2021)
Music That Humans Can Play (2023)

New single: DIANA

Impressive artwork

“It follows Autogramm’s tradition of crafting sing-along new wave anthems, but this
time with a darker twist. “Diana” subtly fuses the tick-tack rhythms, motorik basslines
and melancholic vocals of Speak & Spell era Depeche Mode and Human League, with the scorching guitars and emotional intensity of TSOL or Billy Idol.

Bassist C.C. Voltage explains, “The bass line came to me while I was working. I was able to use my break time to grab a cheap synthesizer and track the idea quickly on Garageband. The Silo was able to polish up the ideas in his studio in Chicago and Jiffy used my scratch vocal idea to create the rest of the eerie atmosphere of the song.”

TUTV: Diana comes out for the gates like a speed train and never looks back.
Dynamizing synths start the whirlwind trip, the powerhouse drum/bass engine
pushes the rotating rhythm with vivid vigour, and zippy vocals complete the
accelerating sonic picture. We have a winner, ladies and gents.

Turn Up The Volume’s 20 BEST TRACKS – OCTOBER 2023

Best of the best of October 2023

ALL TOGETHER

.
TRACK BY TRACK

1. ‘Sometimes, I Swear’ by THE VACCINES (UK)

(Press photo)

The celebrated British indie rockers prepare for the launch
of their 6th LP, titled ‘Pick-Up Full Of Pink Carnations’, with this
new stonker, bringing the sonic euphoria of The Killers to mind.

2. ‘The Dancer’ by IDLES (Bristol, UK)

Press photo

The Bristol punks announced the release of
their 5th LP. They named it Tangk and is slated
for release on 16 February 2024.

First appetizer Dancer features backing vocals from
LCD Soundsystem’s James Murphy and Nancy Whang.

From now on you can dance to Idles.

3. ‘In Slow-Motion’ by EX-HYENA (Boston, MA)

This synth-pop duo is warming up for their third full length ‘A Kiss of the Mind’

Lead single ‘In Slow Motion’ is dark-synth-wave pizazz at its haunting best.
Booming beats rotate on and on towards a full orchestral plangency while
shadowy vocals add even more sinister vibes.

Score!

4. ‘Mouth Yellow’ by PHUTURE MEMORIEZ (New York, US)

These masked synth-punk freaks from Vancouver (CA)
produce lots of mayhem on their new album Play Cobra.
One of the 5 best albums of the month on TUTV’s list.

Mouth Yellow is one of the crazy corkers.
Fasten your seatbelt, folks. It’s a rough ride.

5. ‘TK421’ by LENNY KRAVITZ (US)

The veteran superstar born Leonard Albert Kravitz in New York City 59 years
ago has his new longplayer – a double one – dubbed ‘Blue Electric Light’ out
on 15 March 2024.

On the video for the first taster ‘TK421’ Kravitz
drops his towel and shakes a lot of body parts.

Rock your ass off, Lenny.

6. ‘Downtown Operation’ by DUBINSKI (Edinburgh, Scotland)

Four brothers who’ve literally been through everything together – from childhood
through adolescence, success and grief – using music as the gel to hold them in place.

This first cut from their forthcoming 2nd album is a pure not-so-happy
pop pearl about the doom and gloom era we’re living in.

Its whirling groove, its ebullient beat, its glistering synth flashes, its vivacious
harmonies and last but not least its tremendously infectious chorus combine
for a top-notch earworm. Think Everything Everything and/or Hot Chip turning
up the heat.

Watch/listen.

7. ‘lie’ by MILLIE MILNER & THE DEADNAMES (Manchester, UK)

Beginning as a solo project and growing into a band, Millie Milner & The Deadnames
of Manchester, UK was forged with a stronger mission at the heart to be the queer representation that the band’s members struggled to find in their own teenage years.

Lie was inspired by a breakup of Milner‘s and co-penned by a friend. It tells of
a need to take ownership of their life and their choices and the newfound element
of fun and recklessness they found themselves surrounded by as a newly single
person.

It’s indie at its vivid best. Sparkling guitars going berserk now and then, firm
drum hits, crystal clear vocals/harmonies, evocative lyrics, and a steamy chorus.

Clap your hands.

8. ‘Plastic Punks’ by AUTOGRAMM (Seattle, Chicago and Vancouver)

This Vancouver pop-punks have, so far, 2 albums
on their résumé and #3 waiting in the pipeline.

But first this old-school punk chant.
It’s fun, it’s witty, it’s pogo time.

Jump.

________________________________________________________________________________________________

9. ‘Dream Job’ by YARD ACT (Leeds, UK)

These British indies shot to the top like a comet
last year with their ace debut LP The Overload.

Dream Job is a chirpy harbinger for album number two,
baptized ‘Where’s My Utopia’ shows up on 1 March 2024.

Tune in.

________________________________________________________________________________________________

10. ‘Dead Moon Rising‘ by CACTUS FLOWERS (Houston, Texas)

This psych-rock act is fronted by Jessica A.M., whose mother photographed bands for
the legendary Rolling Stone music weekly during the magazine’s counter-culture heyday.

Their new sultry mid-tempo garage blues-rock corker is fuelled by echoing, rollicking
riffs, steady drum hits and bewitching Jessica A.M. vocals. Dead Moon Rising resonates
like glorious legends The Cramps with a mean machine vibe, rock-and-psycho-billy
swagger and footstompin’ dynamics. From bad moon rising to dead moon rising.

Check in.

11. ‘Run Run Run’ by THE LIBERTINES (London, UK)

The Libs met in the studio once again for a new LP.
It’s been 8 years since the release of their 3rd album
Anthems For Doomed Youth, which was their first
in 11 years back then.

Their new one ‘All Quit On The Easter Esplanade
and comes our way on 8 March 2024.

Run Run Run is a sickly sticky runner.
A vintage Libertines anthem.

Let’s roll.

________________________________________________________________________________________________

12. ‘Violence’ by EMPTY HEAD (Belgium)

Two years after the release of their charged self-titled debut EP Empty Head are
back with a brand new follow-up EP named Tales Of A Modern Man. A 5-track
one anchored by the overarching theme of the Modern Man and bristling with
a wiry tension.

Opener Violence sets the tone with its hammering beats, its inflammable
guitar galvanism and frontman Simon Galloy‘s sky-scraping vocals.

Strike!

_________________________________________________________________________________________________

13. ‘Gift Wrap’ by GAS KÜNST (UK)

Garage punk misfits from Cheshire, UK produced 2 EPs so far them out here.

And on this new speedball they go fast forward, with sharp-teethed
gusto, with high-voltage garage dash and biting vocals. All burners on.

Bang-on.

14. ‘Sowieso F***ed’ by USE KNIFE Belgium/Iraq)

This Belgian/Iraqi launched their excellent debut
full length The Shedding Of Skin, last year.

Their new piece is “a cynical “c’est-la-vie” anthem, set to a heavy 95 BPM beat and a disarray
of fucked up samples & sounds, about ten little wanderers who wander kilometers from home trying to belong. But home is where the heart is. And the House will never share its wealth.”

The release was initiated before the brutal reality of the genocide happening in Gaza.
Now, the cynical message must make way for solidarity with the Palestinian people.”

Expect a both haunting and hypnotic trip, with ominous slo-mo beats pounding
relentlessly with eerie chants all over it. Dark clouds in the air, calm before the storm, subdued electronic anger. It’s an alarming beast of a track.

Fuck all war-greedy political leaders.

15. ‘Man Of The Hour’ by FRANK CARTER & THE RATTLESNAKES

Press photo

Carter and Co release their fifth LP Dark Rainbow on 26 January 2024.

First single Man Of The Hour is a gorgeous surprise. Sonically and vocally
we get the softer side of the post-hardcore punk and tattoo artist. A super
duper ballad.

Sing it loud.

16. ‘Birthday Cake’ by TEEN IDLE (Boston)

Abdelbarry: “The song reflects on having a friend who is acting in immature
ways you’ve outgrown, but knowing they still need your support and friendship.”

It features on her new notable album Nonfiction.

Birthday Cake is slow-progressing musing that appeals instantly with its
rudimentary PJ Harvey-esque guitar play and Abdelbarry‘s affectional voice.
The song has both a romantic and wistful sonority that captivates and moves.
And halfway melancholic synths accentuate the overall ruminate timbre in
an endearing way.

Arresting.

17. ‘Can’t Break You’ by CALEB ORR (Alabama, US)

Caleb Orr is a young skilled country-pop-rock singer-songwriter who grew up in Helena, Alabama. He found his passion for music at a young age. He and his two older siblings were raised on music legends like Alan Jackson, Van Halen, Johnny Cash and Waylon Jennings.

Great voice, great musicality, and great guitar play, echoing classic country
melancholia, and proving that the genre is simply timeless. As we all know, music can
have a healing, comforting and cathartic power and it also works here as Orr wants
to shake off bad habits of the past and want to focus on the future as a compelling
singer-songwriter.

Rad debut.

18. ‘My Girls My Girls’ by THE KILLS (US/UK)

(Photo by Turn Up The Volume – Amsterdam, 2016)

Blues-rock tandem Jamie Hince and Alison Mosshart are finally
back in town. Their 6th, marvelous LP God Games came out
last week.

One of my fav tracks is this sweet little gem.

.

19. ‘Dusty Road’ by THE LAST HURRAH (!!) (Norway)

This is the brainchild of seasoned Norwegian singer-songwriter Hans Petter Gundersen

Dusty Road is a smooth mid-tempo country musing with a bluesy feel and both
a melancholic and yearning sensitivity. Warm voice, captivating melody, vintage
pedal steel guitar charm. All the matching ingredients for a warm sepia-colored
nugget.

Nostalgic Americana the Norwegian way.

It features on his brand new full lenght Modern Nostalgia.

20. ‘Landlord’ by ALREADY DEAD (Boston, MA)

Dan Cummings fronts Boston’s rowdy trio Already Dead

No wall-of-Already-Dead-dynamite electricity this time. Cummings
picked up his acoustic guitar and wrote this bone-chilling cry-out
about living on the edge of drowning or surviving.

Imagine British leftist/political activist and terrific veteran songsmith Billy Bragg
raising his voice or equally politically driven folk legend Woody Guthrie killing fascists
again with his wooden guitar. Landlord‘s profound emotions go from hope to despair
and back, and Cummings‘ anxious vocals send shivers down your spine.

Captivating.

Five Firecrackers To Stay On Track… In The Weekend

17 July 2021

‘I’m Only Talking’ by MEWN (Manchester)

Frontman Daniel Bluer: “It is long but I think it does a lot with that time, it’s fully realised. Lyrically I just tried to mirror the emotion I felt from the sound, the way it felt to me. I think
I have tried to express loss, defiance and a melancholy that has some joy mixed in with it,
which personally feel like it always does.”

This is what epicness is all about. An experience that makes you feel out-of-your-daily-mind, an experience that makes you forget anything and everybody except for what’s going on in your headphones. Melodrama, heartache, despair, and tears. It’s all part of human nature, as we know it. Throwing in melancholic Interpol guitars and a Verve-esque sentimentally lifts this song to a cry-your-heart-out anthem. Ignore the machos.

Just listen and feel…

.
‘Big Appetite’ by LIARS (Australia)

Wayward as we know Liars for years now, meaning: wayward as we know them
for years now. From upcoming album The Apple Drop, their 10th, out 6 August.

Eat here…

‘I Am A Situation’ by AUTOGRAMM (Chicago)

This synth-Krautrock-like jam grooves and moves under your skin from the kick-off, without asking. Again, the hypnotic force of sonic repetition proves its trance-inducing effect. You want this situation to continue, on and on. From the band’s Rules album.

Press the repeat button…

‘Transparent Love’ by SUPER SPACE NATION (Los Angeles)

These Los Angeles power pop-punks are “on a mission to fight toxic masculinity in the rock scene.” Their new electrifying cracker is about “taking full accountability for one’s actions and communication in relationships.” Damn right. Be who you are, but respect others. That’s the only way to keep this troubled world going. And don’t forget to rock your ass off.

Right here, right now

‘Lover Baby’ by THE DILL (Canada)

Be ready for some funky monkey business. Get up, stand up and make your move while savoring the moment. Don’t worry be happy. Have yourself a careless I’ll-see-what-happens moment and have your head floating in the clouds. Listen up: “Sometimes we need to just
go for a walk and dance down the street for the hell of it – taking the piss out of life.”
Bingo!

Tune in and go apeshit…

See/hear you next week, music junkies…
