U2 Had A ‘BEAUTIFUL DAY’ 25 Years Ago Today

Top singles from the past

9 October 2025

Irish superstars U2 released their king-sized hit
BEAUTIFUL DAY
today, 25 years ago, on 9 Oct 2000.

It was the opener of their formidable (along with Achtung Baby my 2 fav U2 LPs)
10th album All That You Can’t Leave Behind, produced by Brian Eno and Daniel
Lanois
.

The song was a huge commercial success, helping launch the album to multi-platinum status, and is one of U2’s biggest hits to date. No. 1 in the US, UK, Canada, Australia, and several European countries.

Bono explained that the upbeat track is about
losing everything but still finding joy in what one has.

Beautiful Day won 3 Grammy Awards. The Irishmen have played it at every
one of their concerts since the song’s live debut on the Elevation Tour in 2001.

Soulful Sunday With A Reworked Beautiful Day By U2

Reveries for the laziest day of the week

5 March 2023

Mega stars U2 release a new album, named SONGS OF SURRENDER
on 17 March. An album with 40 reworked/reimagining tracks of their
glorious past.

The Edge about the project: “Music allows you to time travel, and we became
curious to find out what it would be like to bring our early songs back with us to
the present day and give them the benefit, or otherwise, of a 21st-century
reimagining.”

One of the revisited songs is their huge hit BEAUTIFUL DAY
from their 2000 album All That You Can’t Leave Behind.

It sounds less euphoric and elated than the original version but its
tender and stripped treatment makes this rework quite beautiful.

Enjoy.
