THE DARLING SUNS Stir With Title Track From New EP – Here’s ‘BETTER OFF’…

13 April 2020

Band: THE DARLING SUNS

Who: An indie rock band from Chicago with folk roots drawing influence from Dr. Dog, Arcade Fire, and War on Drugs. The band formed in early 2017. With haunting lyrics about love, loss, heartbreak, the upbeat indie rock and folk melodies around them became a defiant and powerful way of delivering a message.

Track: BETTER OFF – title track from their new EP

Score: Last weekend I listened on repeat to the new, overall moody album of New York City‘s rockers The Strokes‘, one of their best longplayers ever to my ears. When I heard
The Darling Suns‘ moving Better Off humdinger for the first time yesterday, it felt like I
was still listening to The New Abnormal because of its equally dazed vibe, its stirring sensibility, its confused thoughts. Yes, sonic melancholy at its cutting best and when this ballad’s pensiveness intensifies along its heavy-hearted way you’ll feel shivering tingles. Romantic tristesse reinforced by a weeping violin. Touching and poignant. Top stuff!
