This day 14 years ago, on 17 July 2005, Cuba born musician LAUREL AITKEN passed away, at the age of 78. He’s referred to as the Godfather of Ska. His parents were Cuban and Jamaican and moved with their kids to Jamaica in 1938 where Laurel started his musical career in the mid 50s. The song ‘BOOGIE IN MY BONES’, released in 1958, was his first great hit. It was produced by Chris Blackwell who founded Island Records that same year.
