San Antonio‘s veteran rockers BUTTHOLE SURFERS
kicked a lot of ass between 1981 and 2017 with 8 LPs.
In 1998, they bagged a new one, named After The Astronaut,
but their label at the time, Capitol Records, didn’t like it and refused
to release it.
Therefore, the Surfers changed labels and recorded/released another album,
titled Weird Revolution with songs from the dumped After The Astronaut,
but the critics hated it.
Now, as previously reported, after all these years, the band returned
to the studio to rejuvenate the album the way they want it, and it’s
slated to hit the streets on June 24. Pre-order info here.
With INTELLIGENT GUY, we get taster #3. A lazy, mid-tempo, riff-sick groover, accompanied by a bizarre and funnily creepy video directed by Ron English featuring
aliens, grotesque imagery, clown-riding dinosaurs, and fever-dream visuals.
New piece from their upcoming 11th LP. A project performed entirely
in Spanish that aims to highlight their Latin roots and reconnect directly
with their cultural heritage. Tracklist & release date TBA.
TUTV: Vamos, rapeemos. Cypress Hill let pelvis move from left to right and
back to the accordion’s ambiance. Sickly sticking melodia. Fix yourself a
cocktail and sway your body to the party beats.
Band: FACS Who: Chicago-based art rock/post-punk trio
formed in 2017. So far, they have released
5 full-lengths.
Track: PARALLEL LIVES
The band will be on tour in Australia
with Chimers, and to commemorate,
they’ve bagged a split 7″.
TUTV: The electrically-rampant debates open with out-of-tune guitars, progress lazily,
and freak out from the 3-minute mark. Kafkaesque unbridledness for chaotic minds.
Band: BUTTHOLE SURFERS Who: The Texan post-rock-punk veterans who
came together in 1981 and unleashed 8 albums
to this day.
Track: IMBUYA
Title cut from their brand new 4-track EP (2 studio, 2 live tracks).
Stream here.
TUTV: This messy, speed-up psych jam with neurotic drum ‘n’ bass percussion
in the back is a flipped-out stunner. The surfers age backwards. Whoopee-doo.
Artist: SUKI WATERHOUSE Who: Songstress, actress
and model from London.
Track: TINY RAISIN
New single from her forthcoming 3rd album, called Loveland. It comes our way on July 10th.
Waterhouse: “A love song at its core. It’s a song that stands by the fact that real love in its truest essence can be chaotic, ridiculous, and imperfect, while still being something that is absolutely worth choosing over and over again at the end of the day.”
TUTV: Power pop glamour with witty lyrics and fabulous vocals. Dumpfounding class.
Track: WHAT FUTURE
The title song of his
upcoming album, out
this Friday, May 1st.
Carr: “I’ve been putting together these sounds for many years but this
is the first time where I thought ‘this doesn’t really sound like anything else
and decided to put it out.”
TUTV: Techno daft-punk on the run. Electro rock shock. Winding mix of paranoic synths, bass booms, and some helium-infused Carr interventions. Good grief. What a brainfucker.
Vitalizing tunes that work faster than a stream of caffeine

San Antonio‘s heavyweight rockers BUTTHOLE SURFERS
made a lot of out-of-the-way riff racket between 1981 and
2017 with 8 LPs.
In 1998, they had canned a new album, titled After The Astronaut,
but their label at the time, Capitol Records didn’t like it and cancelled it.
The band changed labels and fabricated another LP, named Weird Revolution
with songs from the dumped After The Astronaut, but the critics sabered it.
Now, after all these years, the Surfers got back to work to rejuvenate the album
the way they want it, and it’ll hit the streets on June 24. Pre-order info here.
King Coffey (drummer) says in a press released
that the original vision for the LP was different:
“After the Astronaut was a fun project. We were using all the digital toys at our disposal at the time, and it felt much like the creation of Locust Abortion (1987). We were playing with new toys, creating things that amused us with the crayons we had, and we weren’t worried about radio airplay. It felt like we were going back to our experimental roots while still navigating the major label ecosystem.”
Along with the news comes a first taster,
a jangly-shaky groover called JET FIGHTER.

The clown’s artwork refers to American serial killer John Wayne Gacy who assaulted
and murdered at least 33 young men and boys. Gacy regularly performed at children’s hospitals and charitable events as Pogo the Clown or Patches the lown“, personas he had devised. He became known as the Killer Clown due to his public services as a clown
prior to the discovery of his crimes.
