Deeper is a mean rollicking psych machine who produced a whirlwind storm of razzle-dazzle riffs, beastly hooks and heated licks while the drummer pushes the troops to the limit until he smashed his gear and help was needed to get the high-speed train back on the rails.

From the kick-off on the 4-piece made it loud and clear that they were on a roof-blowing riff mission led by guitarist Nic Gohl who screamed his lungs out along the thunder and lightening way and went on his knees now and then to play with his pedals.

Ripper after ripper, steamroller after steamroller, psych jam after psych jam, uppercut after uppercut, made our heads rotate in all directions. No breaks, no brakes, always full steam ahead. No time for chatting (except for that one second “I fucked up my drum“), no time for a breather, this Chicago turbo was on fire for a full 60 minutes with a 12-track set, mostly pieces from their 2 last albums.

Reference: New York’s 70s art rockers Television playing punk rock. No whistles and bells for these four sharp-edged hombres out of Michael Jordan‘s town. Contender for best gig of 2023.
